  • Wow, I disappear for a few days and come back to find that the thread has been taken over by Wookies and one of us is secretly the prime minister! (It isn't me!)

I was on a course yesterday so spent the whole day sitting in a classroom staring at a projector screen. I was REALLY worried about chewing as I usually always eat all my nails every time I go on a course ... but I managed to not do it! Yay!

I'm going shopping with my mum tomorrow and I'm going to make sure she sees my new and improved nails - she always told me off for chewing when I lived at home.

Well done everyone, keep up the good work!

I always though mine were really dirty early on Mommyme, after a while it's not so bad (I guess because there's less space for the muck to get under) so stick with it. I was self concious about it so I borrowed an opaque pale pink polish (I think it was part of a french manicure set) and used that, obviously they are still dirty but it's not so noticeable.

Aww babyhead thats a shame - but at least you still have 9 unbitten ones! Put a nail file in your purse for emergencies!

  • OK confession time, I fell off the wagon big styley last night and have not a fingernail left!

    Back to the drawing board.....

  • Not to worry - it's supposed to take 12 weeks for any habit/learned behaviour to become ingrained (such as the habit of NOT putting your fingers in your mouth and munching). I figure that any period of not biting proves that it is possible for you to make permanent changes.

I woke up two mornings ago with a massive chunk having been taken out of one corner of my right ring finger nail. No idea what happened - perhaps I whapped it on the bedframe as I slept. In carefully smoothing it off to prevent more breakage or biting, I ended up with it slanting towards my thumb.

Now, with the thumbnail slanting towards the fingers, and 3 out of 4 fingers slanting towards the thumb, I look like a professional guitarist.

Stick a guitar in my hands and it's very clear that I sound like a professional cat murderer.

    Keep it up guys!

    xx Jo

Hello everyone! Well for me it'll be 6 weeks (I think...) on Friday and my nails are just beginning to reach the ends of my fingertips :j Can't believe I've got them that far, they are still annoying me a bit though but I'm going to keep them around that length till I get used to them. I teach design and technology so any longer that that and I reckon I'll be constantly breaking them anyway. AND one of the girls at school complemented me on them today! I don't know why as I have only got strengthener on them so nothing special, but the ends of my nails are VERY white so maybe she thought I had a french manicure or something lol.

Anyway to celebrate my success I'm thinking of buying my first fingernail polish at the weekend :rotfl:I have some bright ones that I use on my toes but don't think that would be appropriate for work so gonna go for something a bit more toned down.

Any suggestions what colour I should go for? I'll probably end up with a dusky pink though hehe!

Hope everyone else is doing well, don;t worry Angela if at first you don't succeed, try try again! You've done it once so you can break the habit!
