    Congrats, great news xxxxxxx

Take a look at Horace's suggestion of Leeds Castle, don't know what they are like as a wedding venue, but its such a lovely place in a breathtaking setting. Visited there over 20 years ago and its one of those places when you see the words the picture is in your mind xx
i agree its my favourite place since i moved here but when i enquired the average wedding there costs 36k :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: (that was a while ago) and there were not small packages available - i cant even afford 3.6k :o:rotfl::rotfl:

I have just had a friend call me because he used to live in Sandwich as he was stationed there when he was in the RAF. He recommends Princes Golf Club for your wedding reception (it has wonderful sea views apparently) https://www.princesgolfclub.co.uk but you would need to be married somewhere else such as the church or The Guildhall which is on the cattle market and you can certainly get married there.

for now i am busy looking at rye again and getting quotes from the little places for afternoon tea with the ceremony in the town hall. thing is you pay for the town hall and then the registrar call out feels (or whatever they are called) as its not a register office.

also meant to say leeds castle now do a mini wedding for 25 mid week for 3200approx. its over our budget but same price as another place had quoted me. that was for 40 people though with a vegan afternoon tea. the package includes alcohol and 3 course meal but seems like it can be altered as we dont want that stuff. its still more than our maximum but wed only need some clothes and photos as leeds castle is just amazing and i love it there. at least its another possibility as last time i emailed them it was out of the question unless i was a billionaire :D
heres the link for a mini wedding (not sure its ok for beks as i think she wants more guests - plus price does not include an evening price... fine for us as we dont want all of that stuff)

its not fancy like the main rooms in the castle but i prefer that as whenever i visit there or other castles i always like the rustic sections (ie the corridors and servants sections) rather than the fancy ornate rooms :D

might be ok for someone else planning to have small numbers

Having watched this thread for weeks with baited breath, I have finally found the dreaded venue on trip advisor. OMG you got away by the skin of your teeth it sounds awful.

Glad you got your money back, hope everything works out for you!

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes.

OH only got round to paying the cheque into the bank today after he hobbled down there lol!!! Should be okay by Wednesday or Thursday to name and shame!!! :j:D

Not looking at other venues yet, we have so much to think about at the moment, just can't get my head round weddings right now. Am still considering the quickie option and then a party sometime next year with all our friends and family. However, suggestions are much appreciated ... Horace, the ones you suggested are a little far away, we are right down on the coast - however, the other one Princes Golf Club is a definate maybe and was already on my list to look at (a friend of mine got married there a few years back and she said it was really lovely, apparently its changed hands since then so would have to find out about new management - not leaving anything to chance now!! :o)

I think we are going to struggle to find somewhere with what our budget now stands at though. This situation has really made us reflect seriously on what is important in our lives and this one day, is not the be all and end all. Yes, I want a lovely wedding but it will be because I am marrying the best man in the whole world! :) Therefore, we are sticking to the £5000 budget for everything. Our current numbers stand at 130 people so think this will be a real struggle.

I am looking forward to the challenge though and hoping that next time, things will be a lot less stressful. :D

Violetta - dd is getting on okay now thanks, 3 ops later and her arm is starting to heal again - we have another 3 weeks before the cast comes off. Bless her, but fingers crossed 6 months of pain will soon be coming to an end. :)

    Thanks again everyone.

I sat here today after noticing your thread on the top page beks and I have read all the way through, just wanted to say I admire your tenacity and you are an inspiration and you deserve the wedding of your dreams with h2b, cannot wait till you name and shame the sod, I did find him earlier today on TA does not make for good reading and he doesn't deserve to be in business.

    well done !!!
