Not been on for a week, but congratulations (again) on getting the money back.

well if anyone does book the venue, after reading the reviews on tripadvisor, then they are well mad.

I personally would wait until i have the cash in my back pocket, before i start my name and shame campaign, you have waited so long, and fought a long and hard battle, so what's another few days or weeks.

Soooooooo happy!!! We don't have the money ourselves but the bailiffs got ALL £5150 of it in cash!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D Because they got such a large amount of cash off him, the bailiffs had to bank the money with the courts and they will pay us in the next week to ten days! :j:j:j:j

I cannot thank all of you enough for your kindness and support. It is down to you all that I have managed to keep fighting for this and get our money back. What do people think about publishing the name of the venue now?? Do you think it is safe as even though we dont have our money, it is now with the courts. Desparate to get going on my new campaign. :D:D:D:D

And the other great news is that little dd is home and doing well. Still in a lot of pain but that should improve over the next few days.

You need to write factual reviews on as many websites as you can and name and shame. This man should not be allowed to ruin anyone elses day.

I cannot believe the support I have had on here, EVERYONE has been so helpful and so supportive. On my first post as a newbie, I never expected so many, helpful, reassuring and informative replies. I have heard from people in all sorts of professions who have been able to help me in their own individual ways, from local people who have helped me look for other venues and keep positive and from people far away (scotland, up north, down south, everywhere) who have simply offered their advice and support and virtual hugs lol!!! From suggesting ways to meet with the owner initially, to ways to get free, cheap legal advice, how to get through the court process and the legal side of things, checking out the venues background, looking at the venues accounts and all the positive, helpful and generous advice and finally, all the wellwishers at the end ... I wondered why the read total was going up and up lol - thank you - it has touched me the kindness shown from 'strangers' to another 'stranger'. I have been totally aghast at the support ... and not even a troll in sight.

YOU HAVE ALL HELPED WITH THIS. THANK YOU ALL FOR EVERYTHING. WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU.

Had it not been for your support, I truly am not sure that we would have kept going to the end. At many points since September, we have considered throwing in the towel (OH a lot more than me as he sees it as 'just' money). What was the important factor for me was that it was OHs money that paid for this and it was losing his leg that paid for our deposit. No part of me could feel responsible for losing his money to this arrogant, nasty piece of work who thought he could fob his way out of yet another disasterous booking. Every time I posted on here, I received overwhelming support and encouragement and it felt right to carry on. I am glad we have done this the right way and we have followed this through to the end and got the result we wanted. It could have gone a different way but due to the managers incapability to correspond and deal with things like a 'decent' human-being, we finally get our money back.

I will be publishing the name of the venue (when we have our money in our hands) and I hope I can go back to persuading OH to do just one local paper article - reviews on trip advisor dont seem to get round the wedding population (well it didnt get to me) and hence, I feel a little more effort has to be made to publicise this eegits treatment of customers. I feel that justice has got to be done. I know we are not a one off, the reviews on trip advisor prove this and for a venue have bailiffs after them for 3 separate cases at one time is not a normal phenomenon (plus the others in the past, of which I know of 4). At some point, I feel this venue will go under, it cannot continue like it is ... it is a shame as it has potential but with the current owner, there is only one result. I for one will be cheering the day I see it close its doors forever.

This has consumed my life for the past 6 months and at some point, I feel we have to move on and start living again. Once we know what is going on with OH and his north pole trip, I cannot wait to start planning our wedding again - and this time it will be the MSE way - we have decided on a maximum budget of £5000 lol!!!! I will continue to haunt these boards and hopefully will soon become one of you brides to be again.

Phew, now that essay is over, I will go back to enjoying my rather large glass of wine (can you tell :rotfl:) on my own while OH is at work!!!!!

We will not be making the same mistake twice!!!! I have learned a lot of lessons from this and our new venue will have a lot to live up to lol!!!
Oh and I think its a lot of nosey people, or its me checking 100 times a day to see if anyone has replied lol!!!!

ETA: Anyone know how I can change the name of this thread - have tried but it still shows the same on the front!! (*inserts confused smilie*)
