Just in case anyone missed this... not all groups are changing to freegle, so if your group doesn't appear on the freegle list, don't despairMy TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
The freegle message maker is just fine. I know, because I wrote it :-)
Any mods reading who have never seen can view it and try it out here...

Unscientific stat:-
Now 174 Freegle groups on Yahoo with over 50 members per group (total 621381 members)
233 UK Freecycle groups* on Yahoo with over 50 members per group (total 806562 members)
* Search criteria was 'freecycle uk' which will pickup any groups with those words in name or description, also there will be a few non freecycle groups included which are still using the freecycle name, freecyclebrighton is one confusing example of this0 -
Quite a number of Freegle groups set up a new "clean and tidy" Freecycle group, all with the bog standard and "approved" text on them. They have a "caretaker mod" who is waiting for someone from The Freecycle Network to come along and take it over.
(Though in this case, "take it over" means that the normal procedure is to "take it over there..." i.e. onto the American MyFreecycle site)
Some mutterings from headquarters in Tucson seem to suggest that these groups have been created in order to "block" Freecycle from using them - and that is simply not true.
We created a guide to help groups who wanted to move home so you can read it yourselves to see what it says...

So that stat above, based on "populated" groups, is probably the best indicator of the state of things at the moment.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. UPDATE 16.9.2009
At the moment the UK moderators are fighting a hard, painful battle to try to stop the parent organisation in the USA turning Freecycle into a faceless, uncaring, money making organisation.
This is not entirely true.
Some modsartors are fighting a battle.
The rest of the comments are pure rhetoric.
I speak as a Freecycle Group owner who is very involved with both sides of the argument!
Where there is a my.freecycle group, you will find that it has replaced the Freecycle group.
It is extremely unlikely that you will find a Freecycle group and a my.freecycle group.
Thought you should know this

Been here five years. Served as a Board Guide on Old Style for a fair old length of time.
Been with Freecycle for more than four and was made up to Owner quite quickly.
Been looking after Message maker since 2007.
Both are cracking good sites and, each in their way, help me stretch my limited budget a whole lot further than it otherwise would go. As an example, my dishwasher finally gave up the ghost after nineteen years and I mentioned in passing to a fellow Freegle member that my hands were now permanently super clean - but wrinkled; and he told me that he had a spare. It was "only" a "fitted kitchen" type thing - but would it do? Naturally I grabbed it with both hands, nearly bit his arm off in fact :-)
So, yes, it doesn't "look" very pretty - but it's a Smeg!!!
Wow. :-)
Anyway, to answer your comment Mike... I'm in loads of good places :-)Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. My local freecycle group is now part of freegle, although the name is LiverpoolRecycle.
As far as most of us are concerned there will be no difference?
Although I do like the idea that an offered post is deleted when there is a TAKEN, in an active group it is difficult to match up the offereds with the takens before contacting someone.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
