Good old F4 as unreliable as ever.
Years ago it use to show as if it was connected, even with the little icon on the bottom of the screen but of course you`d wait ages for a page to load, which never happened.0 -

.
As a fast4 user of course I will complain bitterly when it goes wrong. But as much as I currently hate to say, if I take a step back, the last fault was some six months ago and before that a lot longer.
Now if I compare this to my relatives and friends various broadbands. It actually looks good against what seems to a regular stream of various faults and problems.
I can tell by the tone:) of your posts that you must have had some really good experiences with them in the past.
Maybe comparable to my previous ISP. Still the faults with that one used to get fixed fairly fast and I always found out quickly what was wrong. That probably had something to do with them being on a nearby trading estate and me banging on their door.:rotfl:0 -

As I said in my post #36 they were the cheapest you could get at that time and also recommended by ML on some program when he was on TV.
But getting connected and staying connected was a nightmare.
Having said that, some of the other dial up ISP were just as bad only dearer.
We`re going back about 8 years when BB was not so popular, available and affordable.
As I said,we had some great debates and anecdotes on these boards then.
AFAIK, F4 has been taken over by a more useless company than themselves
Breathe Internet,so I can see why you`re having probs.
Never mind maybe one day you`ll get BB in the wilds of beyond. :rotfl:0 -
I remember just like you, several years ago, using automatic dialling software and then having a cuppa while it tried to connect. I think most of those fledgling companies used the same internet backbone so they all had the same problems.
Believe me I'm counting down the days until when I can get a decent cheap broadband connection.
Then I'll be back here saying the only difference between dial up and broadband is that things are faster, so they go wrong quicker.:)0 -

Basically they did, they were all mostly just reselling a wholesale product from BT.
