Problem being the cable is run in the wall. Even with the aerial inside the loft, would taking a direct feed from the aerial to the box improve the signal?

I'd suggest moving the same aerial outside (and extending the original cable with a "dreaded join") would significantly increase both signal strength AND signal quality. This improvement will almost certainly be far greater than replacing the cable with superdooper stuff and keeping the aerial where it is.

Can't see why they would want to know anyway- it's TVs that are licenced not tuners!

Since it can receive TV broadcasts, assuming it's tuned in, then you require a license.

Can you get one of these that has a USB connection? I've got a 400 gig external hard drive for my laptop so it would be nice to plug it into one of these boxes and increase the capacity for free.

    Thanks in advance

Just a word of warning about these. I'be had 2 from Argos in the past two days and both have gone back. They both had the same fault of working for the first 20 minutes or so, but then crashing, with the picture turning to either a digital snowstorm or blank, sometimes with sound, sometimes not.

The way they crashed would suggest it may be a heat problem, but it was on an open shelf by itself, so I don't see that I could have done any more for it.

Having had 2 do the exact same thing, I'm surprised nobody else has experienced problems.

But so can EVERY VCR, EVERY DVD Recorder, EVERY PVR, EVERY PC TV Card, & EVERY Freeview Set-Top Box.

I've NEVER been asked for any details EXCEPT when buying a TV ITSELF !
