I don't remember that poll? 9,000 votes eh? We normally get about 20, more if it's about sex.

But what do you want? An "oh that's nice then", or a more considered 'opinion'. Probably don't want mine. But here goes.

    1. Biggest bubble in house price history financed by artificial and in some cases illegal lending.
    2. Worldwide financial crash takes out major banks and economies (Iceland for example)
    3. MSE says "back to normal next year"

    Whatever.

Sentiment is pretty important in the housing market, add in the fact that credit is ever so slowly returning to normal.

    Same news, different angle.

71% of people on MSE are happy for their children not to get a good start in life.

    What a bunch of sickos.

They won't be moneysavers when the house prices go up ... won't have any left over for savings.

Yes indeed it is, sentiment is critical to the housing market.

    Strange, isn't it.

I always wanted prices to rise, but at times I also thought, and posted, that prices would drop 30% or more from peak.

Delighted to be wrong about that, BTW, but surely we should post what we think WILL happen, not just blindly post what we WANT to happen.

Nothing against Guy, but I don't really think this sites users really have that much idea of where house prices are going. Could be an indication of what the general public think though.

But this site has far more here who are in financial trouble, or have been than the day to day public...hence why they come here in the first place.

And before anyone asks, I arrived here after looking for a voucher code!

The site also has a higher proportion of the financially astute than the general population, even on the debts boards the people are turning their lives around like born agains.
