Morning all:j
We all survived the first day back (teachers, that is:rotfl:) The little tiny ones don't start until Monday so we are not at full stretch yet.
Have my performance management meeting today - wish me luck:rolleyes:
Lovely sunny, crisp Autumn morning here today. I luuuuurve this time of the year. Still 'warm' enough to have my morning coffee in the garden, albeit wrapped up with a fleece.
Had some good news yesterday. The Head gave me the go ahead to set up my after-school cookery school! Starting after half-term - lots of planning, costing, printing etc. to do now:T It is the realisation of a dream for me...
DD is back from Dorset and immediately requested a sleep-over tonight so she can catch up with her friends What's wrong with MSN, that's what I want to know. Goodbye tidy house.....
Dinner will be something easy from the freezer - watch this space.
Have a good day all:j

Well done, Lillibet - that's great news. Let us know how it all goes. I think it's a great idea because it will inspire youngsters to cook for themselves. I bet you'll get them cooking proper food instead of the stuff my DS2 had to learn when he was at school! All 'design a biscuit and its packaging' and no mince in sight. It used to drive me mad!
BitsyBeans - I haven't been sleeping well lately, but it's not down to being woken by children these days (my mind just won't switch off!), so I do sympathise. When mine were small, I'd have given anything for just one good night's sleep. Hopefully the teething will soon be over and things will be more restful for you.
Well, after torrential rain the sun is trying its best to put in an appearance so fingers crossed that all the bad stuff we are all getting will disappear soon.
The WM is on but I don't think I'll risk hanging it out.
See you all later.

Morning all!
Am off to work in a minute, feeling really bleary eyed as haven't been sleeping well since what happened here the other day, keep having nightmares. At least it's Saturday tomorrow.
Jacket potatoes with chilli con carne for dinner tonight.
Wish it would stop raining so that my washing could go out on the line, really fed up of having to tumble dry it!
Hope you all have a good day x0 -
Morning all,
Looks like a nice day here, have just put a load in the wm, and will get dd to hang it out later.
Aussie and Haribo, i re-boiled my chutney last night and added cornflour and water and its thickened up nicely :T so thanks, and OH had not taken a jar into his work mate, but had started one, and put it in the fridge, so my reputation is saved :rotfl:.
Off to work again today, but last day of the week, :T macaroni cheese for dinner tonight, I picked up four packs of bacon last week reduced to 50p a pack, so I will chop some up and put in ours, and have some salad with it.
Bitsy, aww poor you, I remember those days well, I swear my dd did not sleep a night through untill she started school , hope you manage to get some rest xx
Aussie, can you let me have the recipe for zucchini pickle ?? seeing as how I am an expert now:rotfl: (am getting slightly obsessed with chutneys
)
Ok, have good days all xx0 -
Mornign guys!!
DS had his first evening at Beavers last night - he LOVED it!! I tell ya he has more of a social life than I do!! Beavers on a Thurs, football on a Sat morn, now we're back at school, he'll have all the b'day parties etc etc!!
I'm glad he's enjoying it, I didn't have many friends when I was younger which I think has impacted of me as an adult. I 'know' may people but would never trust any of them with any secrets or anything.
Anyway I digress again, today I'm not doing the hoovering etc first thing as I CBA!! hehe! Must finish my assignment and I've a huge pile of ironing to do that I've been putting off for about 4 weeks!!!
And I really must go through the cupboards and see what meals I can scrap together before money hits the bank.
Hope everyone has a good day today.Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0 -
Morning all
MSD stories like that make me go all warm inside.
BITSYBEANS you poor thing, I know just what you mean. I used to work nights when my son was a baby. I would sleep when he did. It does get better one day, take it easy on yourself and IKWYM about the eating.
Not so windy here today, but grey and autumnal. Plan today to finish tiling the bathroom. Will buy the paint at the end of the month when I get paid. Need to go to bed at some point as I'm working tonight.
Fish pie for tea, shall make some rhubarb crumble and custard and take it into work for supper:D. I'm sure it will go down a treat at 1am.
Have a good day all and hugs to all that need one.

Morning all:hello:
Here's my list today;)
Make some bread -seedy grainy loaves today
Do the laundry
Make our bed
Ironing -realised all dd's school clothes were in a crumpled heap in the corner of her wardrobe:rolleyes:
Unpick ds1's air cadet badges and sew them on in the correct place on his brassard:rolleyes: I sewed them below the button hole, but apparently they have to cover the button hole -why?? Typical military pointlessness. This is what I'm on about -it's only the top two badges. Everything has to be so precise, there's no way ds1 could sew them on neatly himself to the right standard. He'll have to learn though.
Clean the bathroom and downstairs loo. Might incorporate a loo cleaning lesson for the boys;)
Lunch -pittas, taramasalata, hummus, tomatoes, carrot sticks etc
Supper -Curry Feast (without any actual curry) lentil dhal, naan (bought!), and pakoras -I'm doing potato, broccoli, courgette, mushroom, aubergine and pepper ones. Just a few of each. Learnt how to make them from the wonderful Manjula on YouTube.
Have a productive day everyone.0 -
Morning, better weather here today (for now!).
I'm tired, i worked last night, so should be having a lie in but hubby is still laying in his pit so i'm up with the kids
Oldest will be off to school in a mo , so will just be me and the boy...hopefully once hubby is up i will go back to bed for awhile:rolleyes:
Then will start on the housework.
Doing roast belly pork and lots of veg for dinner.
Bit of excitement at ours last night, the quiche factory behind my house burnt to the ground, there were at least 7 fire engines and the were still damping down at 1am. We were lucky thta the wind was blowing away from us as otherwise we would have been evacuated.0 -
Good morning,
Bitsy what can I say? Is there something you could use as a sleep prompt for ds and dd? Ds's nursery always played them classical music at nap time, so we carried this on at home at bed time, and it is quite useful to be able to switch music on at night and hope it lulls them back to sleep. I hope you get through the day alright.
Our own particular sleep wars have finished for now. I am regarded as being a bit old fashioned by my friends for having a routine for ds, but at least he knows when to expect his meals, and what happens at bedtime etc. My sister used to let her children fall asleep on the floor and then carry them off to bed. Evenings in her house were absolute chaos:eek:
I don't have much planned for today, but I did buy a roll of 20 black bin bags yesterday, ready to sort this house out once ds has gone to school. The plan is to bag up most of the toys that he doesn't play with. If he hasn't asked for them after 6 months they can be sold or freecycled. He is a careful child and has virtually every toy he has ever been bought from his first birthday onwards. Like his father and grandfather before him, he is a hoarder.
Take care all of you0 -
Good morning all, you all having trouble sleeping?
I'm paying for the last couple of days activity, arm has taken a backward step and am rather sore...still have stuff to do.
Need to do something veggie for tea that involves a selection of veg. I usually end up with a load of one thing. I have one leek, a few decent mushrooms, carrots, courgettes, onions, some cooked cabbage in the freezer, probably some beans in MIL's garden. Any ideas? If it would go with the spicy rice that I have left in the fridge so much the better. I'm sure they must make something nice and tasty. Ideas please? ...btw, have already had veg curry and onion bhajis this week!
It's bright sunlight here and throwing it down verrrrry heavily at the moment. A sunglasses and headlights moment!
DS is wearing his suit for school as a 6th former. Difficult to find stuff to fit as he's a small 16 yo. He doesn't really want to wear plain white shirts (he's going to have to some of the time!), the only ones that I've found are Gap XS. THink I shall go over to Cheshire Oaks later and see if the outlet has any more. That is where I got the two I already have for him. It's also difficult to find ties of the right scale. Boy ones are too small. Bloke ones seem to come in varying sizes and the ones for a 6'6" bloke are too big for a 5'and a bit lad! I must try and get there earlyish, as it tends to get packed in holiday times.
You folks with kids with 'social lives' keep it up. You may get criticism for filling the kids lives de da de da de da, but ultimately it won't be your kids that are banging old ladies over the head and destroying bus shelters.
Guides and Scouts can lead to such a lot. DD has done their National Orchestra course and worked at the World Centre in Mexico for 6 months as a result of being in Guides and being a young leader. Both have made a huge impact on her life.
I would love a washing line. It still hasn't got put back since we did our extension.
Hope that you all have a great day,"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
