Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 5th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all
welcome2.gifGemmabuckle and eating something home made is definately OS in my book.. Some days it's all I manage lol
Bitsy - Hope your mum feels better soon
Cranky - Glad you got some sleep
Haribo - Hope your daughter feels better today
celyn - What fun earrings!
Taplady Well done to your son.
Pen-pin - I hope your OHs foot is Ok and that you feel better today.
Helyg - OMG that is terrible, those poor girls.
Noahs - so glad your son went back to school happily and that you (and the cat!) can relax a little.

Something nice happened yesterday.. A man came to the door at dinner time to return my OHs wallet that he found on the pavement at lunch time. My OH hadn't even noticed it was missing as he changed out of his clothes as soon as he came home and assumed his wallet was still in his pocket. What a nice man! And yes, we gave him a reward.

We made a huge cottage pie from the leftover mince mixture from two days ago and had it for dinner last night and will finish it off tonight. Am so proud of us as we have never stretched a meal to a third day before as we eat such big portions. :o I swear it went so far due to the extra addition of three grated sticks of celery to go with the usual two carrots I grate into it!!

Am up early waiting for Tris in America to come online. Last night he was feeling a bit rough. The flu has gone but on top of the cancer it has made him feel pretty weak and a bit depressed. We are due to 'meet' in about 5 mins and I shall do my best to cheer him up.

Just started the BM going and have a bowl of weetabix and banana for breakfast. Hope you all have a good day. Warm gentle hugs.giffor anyone who wants one!

    Morning All!

Im not upto much today. Hubs has taken the car today so i cant venture far as I still havent worked out the public transport here yet. So I may make the most of the winter sunshine and go for a walk to the park :) and enjoy the scenary (SP?)

I need to change the bedding and sweep/mop the floors but apart from that Im kind of all house worked out lol and ready for the weekend. This weekend needs to be a cheapy as we have just brought a new car so our funds are low. But my storecupboard is full of pasta and rice so food wise we will be fine until payday :) we will just need to buy a few fresh bits here and there - or thats the plan anyway.

    Have a lovely day everyone,

Morning Sassy and Pixie - Sassy, I hope you get back to sleep soon.

Pixie - a walk in the park sounds great, I love those sunny crisp winter days.

Just had to clear up after Treacle the cat decided to bring her biscuits back up. (apologies to those eating breakfast right now.. it was worse this end of the screen I can assure you!:rotfl:)

Anyway, she is now on the stairs sulking..

Hi all. MSD - hope Tris is feeling a bit better this morning. He's going through such a lot, isn't he?

It's pouring with rain right now. After six weeks without any, the gardens are desperate. We've had a hosepipe ban in this part of France for a good few weeks now. I have to go shopping later so I hope it stops by then. Still, I won't complain because I know the UK has had far worse weather than we've had. I hope you all get a good weekend.

I hope all the children are settling in well at school now that the new term is under way. I just wish they'd had some better weather during the holidays.

Well, dinner tonight is the second curry of the week to use up some beef I found in the freezer and some of the Econ Gastro biriyani rice that I made. The recipe makes a huge mound of it, enough for three meals for the two of us, and it's delicious.

Well, the kettle calls - see you all later. I'll try and catch up with yesterday's news later.

    Morning all you early birdies!

am not usually about this early but I'm being picked up in a minute to help DH on the second half of the milkround.
My friend who was coming down for a few days has cancelled as she's just got the keys to a house so she can finally move out - she's been living with her estranged husband for ages as she couldn't afford to move but now she's got a housing association house so its all go for her - hope to go and visit her to lend a hand.

Hope you all have a great day! back later x

    Morning.

Low down the list today and it's only 6.15. OH goes back to school today for one of 3 jobs. Part time at one school some supply teaching and now private tutoring. No full time teaching vacancies out there, so got to make the best of the rest.

Spent the day in PZ, nice and sunny with heavy showers. Ate Jelberts ice cream topped with clotted over at Newlyn. Fish and chip supper, so not a bad day. Got back too late though in the wind and rain.

It's cold this morning and very wet outside. Dark too. Feels like winter.

Day off for me. I think I have a hen house to clean out and then e-bay 20 things. Friends over for supper, roast lamb, so need to get some supplies in.

    Cheers folks

    Morning everyone,

Made some zucchini pickle & a batch of gingernuts this morning. Cleaned the lourvers & washed the front path down. After lunch I mowed. Just got out the shower. It's so dry & dusty. We really need some rain. Other than making tea tonight that will be it for me. :D I don't want to over exert myself.

DD coming over for the weekend tonight. She's bringing me some wine. Good girl. :D Off to do grocery shopping & a visit to the library in the morning. My next books from Jonathon & Faye Kellerman are there that I'm reading. It's a series and I started from the beginning. I'm really enjoying them.

Well hope you have a lovely day from this old girl, but not quite as old as that photo Haribo showed yesterday. :p:D Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    morning all

have been awake since 3ish ended up coming downstairs and watching lots of torchwood episodes I had recorded :D

the teens are off to school today and they are quite excited, they had a rehearsal with their uniforms last night - bless

Dmum and sdad coming today so need to clean through, then taking the teens to the orthodontist at lunchtime, I also need to get some petrol and fit a tesco shop in

think it may be a takeaway for tea tonight :o:D

have a good day all xx:D
  • Good Morning

Its Friday :jbeen a hard week again (workwise) so am really looking forward to the weekend, although may be doing a delivery job with OH tomorrow to Olympia but that shouldnt be too bad.

Just about to make packed lunches (I hate that job) have already done the banking in the office so although there is a fair bit of other stuff to do that will be ignored today.

Into town this mornng to return some shoes to Next, I will treat myself to a mocha from starbucks and maybe have a wander around the market but wont be spending much. Also need some more echinacea from boots.

This afternoon will be doing all the ironing and starting a sort of spring clean. As we live in a rural area with working fields opposite us the house gets really dirty in the 6 weeks and as the kids are at home deep cleaning just doesnt happen. So today I will start a good going over the whole house then deep clean at least 2 rooms a week. I know about the flylady thread but I just cant seem to get on with it:D

Anyway picked up a fish pie pack from Asda yesterday (3 different raw fish) so I may make fish pie tonight if I can get some mashing potatoes (didnt think of that yesterday) if no they will be frozen and some other delight from the freezer will be used.

So OS wise - loads of stardrops & vingear will be used this afternoon, will resist having a takeaway tonight as funds are definately low, and will do next weeks meal plan.

Offski now, have a great day.x

    Morning everyone.

Had the worst nights sleep so far this week. DS came into to see us at 1.30am and H let him into our bed :( We'd agreed we weren't going to do it but H thought it was earlier than it was......so after a while we put him back in his own bed. Then was up with DD from 3.30am to 5am as she was really restless and whimpering. It must be her teeth so had to dose her with pain killer. Took her ages to drop off and in the end I had to sit and cuddle her. DS up at 6.30am so my eyes are sore and gritty and I feel shattered. I felt knackered yesterday and I never seem to be able to catch up in sleep. Got my mindee coming today and as my mum is still out of action with her back I shall have DD this afternoon too (my worst part of the day for tiredness).
So all in all feel fed up and the tiredness affects my eating as I pick and pick at stuff all day to keep me awake. I am never going to lose this blasted baby weight at this rate. Feel like I am never going to have a decent nights sleep again :(
Sorry for my moaning. If I don't get it out it will just make me ratty and then I just end up being short with the kids :o Just ignore me I'll be back on usual form tomorrow.......
H is out tonight so be something simple for tea. Not much OS going on really due to mindee coming.

Diva - that was lucky about your OH's wallet.

Pixie - enjoy your walk in the sunshine - lucky you!!!

Have a good day all OS or not.
