Thanks for all of your reassurance on this thread.
I will pop in the CAB tomorrow with the two letters.
Thanks all of you for letting me know I wont be prosecuted.
Our CAB usually just takes appointments first, I have not known them to give actual advice the first time you visit, but maybe if I say its just a quick bit of advice, and hand them the letters, they may see me.
If not, and I have to wait, then at least I know that I wont be prosecuted.
All my needles worry was down to that comment about fines/prison from that pharmacist in boots.0 -
Don't know how other CAB's work but my local one only does drop in sessions on certain days, i.e no appointment needed. But in my experience it's better to go down there even if it's to make an appt for another time/day as it can be hard getting through on phones.
Just try to remember it IS needless worry and you're obviously a very honest person and this shows in the fact you're trying to resolve it, nothing bad will happen!0 -
Depending on why your IS ended you may have still been entitled to free prescriptions anyway.
If all you have over claimed is a few free prescriptions, they are highly, highly unlikley to prosecute you- it costs a lot of money to take someone to court. It will be saved for deliberate fraud and larger sums of money. You are now doing you best to put what you have done.
You sound like a decent honest person, put this to the back of your mind and try not to worry.0 -
Im am quite shocked that a pharmacist would behave in such a manner, telling someone they could go to jail - does she not realise
a) she is not qualified to state that
b) the effect it could have on someones state of mind.
Shocking behaviour from boots I feel.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
Hi stop getting yourself in a panic. Listen to what people are saying to you. You have nothing to worry about and given your mental health problems they will be sympathetic.
If you really need a listening ear phone the mental health team and speak to the the on call social worker.
Getting yourself worked up will be detrimental to your mental wellbeing.0 -
I went to the CAB this morning, but I forgot to tell them that I had phoned the counter fraud office and was asked if I wanted to pay the money.
I cant remember if I gave my name to the counter fraud office.
I aso forgot to tell the CAB that I made a phone call to that number on the prescription slips (they gave me number of counter fraud office)
The CAB took my details etc and kept a copy of the letter I put up on here, which I did not send.
Although I didnt tell the CAB about these calls will it still be ok.
sorry for the question, the CAB office was busy and I was anxious in there which is why I forgot to tell them I had phoned.0 -
The worst that will happen to you is that your details are passed onto a solicititor/debt collection agency & they will contact you asking you to pay the outstanding amount within a certain amount of time; ie, 2 weeks.
I've recently had a similar thing happen to me but I'm actually exempt from prescription charges on health grounds. Last time round I forgot to renew my exemption certificate as I have bad memory problems, mainly due to my mental illness.
I'm now being pursued by a solicitor trying to collect the debt for prescriptons they say I should have paid for, on behalf of my local NHS primary care trust. My cpn & another mental health support worker are trying to get the trust to accept that I do not owe a debt for unpaid prescriptions, as I technically am exempt & my mental health is a contributor to my not remembering to renew my exemption certificate. They are not wanting to budge on this issue though sadly, so looks like I'm going to have to cough up.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
don't worry bundance. YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG! these were all genuine errors and anyone will see this. the lady in boots was clearly just being over the top because they try to put people off risking making a fraudulent claim.
i know of people who have deliberately lied about prescriptions and nothing happened to them. not to say you did this - you didn't.
don't stew over this you will just make yourself stressed. when i'm worried about something i try to think what is the worst that can happen and tell myself i have the strength to deal even with that situation if i have to.Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
Do you think it will be ok that I forgot to tell the CAB that I had made those phonecalls previously mentioned on this thread?
Should I go back to the CAB and tell them that i made those calls yesterday, or should I just let it lie.
Thanks0 -
You will be fine christine and dont worry, if asked pay it back and since you wrote to them saying you made a mistake nothing will happen to you.
Sleep easy and try not to worry, I know you wont but I hope that our reasurances help you feel better about it.0
