Debitas

I've had them on the phone every day. I haven't defaulted on any of my payments with them, they agree to this, but yet still phone about six times each day to say that the computer says that there is a default on my payments. When I ask about the default they can't actually find it, they just say the computer says default.0

hello everyone
I actually work for Debitas and Capital One and would be happy to answer any questions on how to deal with Debitas and to give advice on any issues you have so just leave them on here and Ill try and help you out!
Ill remain anonymous for obvious reasons!
Like most people on here I am receiving several phonecalls a day and everyone i have spoken to have been extremely rude and threatening. After the third time of actually getting into an argument with one of the advisors I told them to stop threatening me with other debt collection agencies and to just get on with it! Obviously they are full of it because they are STILL calling me to arrange a payment plan. I say 'arrange' very loosely because an arrangement is something that both parties can agree to and they pure and simple do not agree to anything unless it's what they want and not what you can actually afford. To cut a long story short I have been paying a fixed amount of £30 per month for a balance of £1100 by standing order for the last 5 months only to continually receive letters and phonecalls saying that i have failed to try and sort this matter and that Debitas 'want to help resolve the matter'. This is total bull, i have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve it and unless you offer what you can't afford you are wasting your breath.
Can you tell me as an employee what exactly i need to do to get this matter passed over to an alternative agency as after being told it would deff be passed over it still hasnt and i am still getting up to 6 phonecalls a day! I have already cancelled the standing order because if the amount i am paying is not acceptable then i shall simply not pay it!! I will be sending a letter shortly advising them to stop calling me, failing that I WILL lodge a complaint and will change my phone number so they can't ring me anyway.
Also, this is not the first time i have had debts dealt with by agencies and I know for a fact that courts do not favour companies that take customers to court who are already making payments.0 -
I had maxed my card up to the £500 limit, did the right thing - contacted Capital One and got them to send me an income and expenditure form (this was in October last year). They still kept harassing me and when I told them about the income/expenditure form they said they hadn't had it, so I asked for another one. They managed to lose that and meanwhile Debitas contacted me and said that they had taken over the debt and I wouldn't pay any charges while I was with them. Next month I had a letter from Capital one saying I was in default (no mention of Debitas). They had lost my form again!!! So sent a third one, calculating that I was left with £28 each month to pay my debt off. They rang me and told me that according to their figures I was able to pay £120 a month!!! I told them that I would pay £40 or they could take me to court. The girl I spoke to was left floundering. Next minute I get a call from Debitas saying they had taken over again!!! (This is doing my head in). What is the point of filling in income/expenditure forms if they're going to totally ignore them, and lose them in the process as well! Aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!.:mad:0

I spoke to Capital One the other day and once I could understand the accent (which was very difficult). I found them very rude and quite personal. I was told I'd be sent out a pack to help decide repayments. I had been told this on previous occassions and never received it, I was also told that I had 2 months before the account went into default.
Today I receive a letter from Capital One saying my account has been closed, details of the debt were being passed to a credit agency, and a debt collection firm would be contacting me. In the same post was a letter from Debitas (obviously a collection agency owned by Capitl One)
I have no idea why it was passed so quickly to Debitas after I spoke to Capital One two days ago.
I've no idea what to do now and would appreciate any advice.
Thanks Paul0 -

Told her my landline is ex directory & I won't give out phone numbers. She argued saying so she has two numbers & I won't confirm them, so she can't speak to me. I said well choose something else to ask, you managed to write to me. She said she has my work number & will contact me at work, so I said well i'm saying not to & if you do i'll consider it harassment. Anyway, I have sent my card back & offered £25 a month, which I didn't tell her. I just said i'm going with CCCS, so she told me to hang on while she checked if they deal with them. She then told me that I have to pay, so I said i'll make token payments of £1, to which she said it HAS to be £10. Came off the phone really upset, tho I did hang up on her lol.I'm just gonna send the £1, wish I'd asked to speak to a Supervisor, what do you all think?0

I have phoned Debitas.....and I live abroad and it cost me a fortune as I was kept hanging on for ages. I spoke to someone regarding my problem and they assured me that my call would be registered and acknowledged but today I have received another threatening letter from them. What do I do????0

I have just had a man from Debitas on my door step, I told him that I that I had sent a letter to say that I had not wish to make an appointment with him and he is breaking the law. I used the template on here. He could see that I was getting emmotional and did leave.
I have replied to every letter Capital One have written to me, I am on so much medication for my nerves through no fault of my own. Its as if they dont read the letters.
As I sent the tempate telling them not to call is there anything I can do?0 -
I have found Debitas extremely unhelpful. I was on a payment plan with them but due to finances couldnt pay for a few weeks, was continually told that I had to make a payment so I cancelled the standing order.
Spoke to a woman on the phone at the beginning of January and set up a new plan to start on the 16th, made the payment and yesterday received a call saying that I had defaulted and there was no record of the new plan on the system. I explained that I had a letter from them detailing the new plan. When I finally managed to make myself understood I was told that the plan would be reactivated.
Gets home from work today to another call telling me I had defaulted and that no-one had reset the plan, when she couldnt make me do things her way she hung up.
Whats the betting I get calls tomorrow? I am speaking to the Citizens Advice as I have all the paperwork on the plan and the name of the person I spoke to yesterday, is there anything else I can do?LBM April 2011
