Yet another 1/2 lb gone - I am a bit disappointed but at least it is all going in the right direction.

I had a bit of a shock on Wednesday at work - I went to catch a child who was about to run out of the classroom and stepped on a mat that I've walked over many times before - mat went one way and I went up in the air and back down on my elbow, hip and back. Stopped child in it's tracks though LOL - I picked myself and my pride up and dusted myself down. I was a bit sore and my elbow was fairly bruised.

As the day went on I could feel my ribs hurting - didn't sleep too well and ended up in casualty on Thursday morning where I was x-rayed and prodded and used as a gineau-pig for students (with my full permission and they were all lovely). Anyway they are convinced I've cracked a rib, although couldn't decide if it was a mark or crack they could see in the bone but there is muscle damage too they reckon.

I have been taking strong pain-killers but they don't agree with me these days so I spent the day throwing up yesterday even though I took anti-sickness pills to counteract them. Throwing up with a cracked rib not a good combination LOL. I am feeling much better now though and ribs settling enough to manage with panadol and diclofenac.

So I am taking most of this week off just to let things settle a bit more. I had such plans for the garden too this weekend - ah well...........

Back at work again after being off with my ribs - everything seems fine again now - but boy - I did know about it at the time.

I have been fairly busy sorting the house out - how did it get in such a mess??????? I've tidied cupboards, sorted everywhere out and vowed not to let it get too much out of hand again............

I also re-joined the gym I used to go to. I'd let my membership lapse as I wasn't using it to it's full advantage. I missed Tai-chi so looked for a local class which I but found it was only 75p less than the average weekly cost of the gym - where you can swim and go to classes, and visit the jaccuzzi and steam rooms as many times as you want - so I decided to go for it. I have more than had my monies worth this week - even though I've taken things slowly after my fall. I have really enjoyed it though and plan to use it this year.

Other than the gym membership I have had very few spends recently as I've been doing a bit of a storecupboard challenge :)

Thanks ladies......... it has been longer than I thought too.

Life has been a bit hectic. I have been helping ds decorate and get his new house fit for living in.

In between times my mil has been in and out of hospital........

I had a big shock when a close friends 12 year old daughter passed away - she was a little girl who had lived way past any doctors expectations but had lived a very fulfilled life - always smiling and putting lots of us to shame - she could barely walk, couldn't talk and was tube fed but being the little character she was - enjoyed doing what she could do as and when she was able with the help of her fantastic parents and had many experiences that many would never expect her to achieve.... I have to admit it knocked me a bit for six, especially when it wasn't one of her usual illnesses but blood poisioning through a line that became infected.

My brother also had a suspected heart attack the same week.

Boy was I ready for my 2 week holiday to Cornwall :) We went over the last half term and had a lovely mse holiday in our caravan with a few treats thrown in for good measure. I hadn't felt quite right - tired with an occasional pain in my tummy but nothing too bad and I couldn't put my finger on it. I just put it down to being tired with the combo of 'stuff' that was going on. Anyway on the Thursday of our 2nd week I took a turn for the worse, seemed to improve a bit on the Friday but by Saturday we decided to cut the holiday short and head home - 6 hours from door to door.......think my dh was a tad worried about me ;)

I ended up in local hospital Saturday until Friday just gone - I couldn't fault them - I was x-rayed, ultra sound scanned, ct scanned and had a camera placed in parts that a camera really has no right to be........... anyway I have had a severe infection in stomach and intestinal linings. I think they thought my bowel was slightly perforated again and I was rather concerned as they had me on nil-by-mouth ready for theatre slots a couple of times - but tests they expected to show things just kept coming back clear. So luckily I got away with fluids, strong antibiotics and antacids - all through iv. Felt a bit like a pin cushion as my veins are rubbish and if they manage to get a canula in me - it blows and refuses to let anything pass through within hours. But I'm home now and other than being worn out no worse off for my ordeal. It has been a wake up call though!!!!!!

My local hospital is the one where there has been a lot of controvacy about iv medicines being tampered with. The security has really been stepped up since I was last in there.

SOoooooooo....I'll be off work for the next couple of weeks. I won't get any cash from my 2nd job as it it only 'sessional' work but I should get my basic wages from work. I think I get full pay for a month. Luckily I have managed to save a little for my dd's wedding but if needs must I can use that.

Just when I think I have things under control - life comes and bites me in the bum again.

I'll look into my finances over the next couple of days - back to basics to get me through this glitch.

Off to do some catching up.........

Thanks again ladies - now the excitement of being at home has worn off I am feeling very flat and tired. I don't feel 'poorly' but feel as if I want to do things - my body must be telling me otherwise at the moment though...........I'm not good at this stage of recovery lol. But experience tells me to go with it and do short bursts of whatever I'm feeling like doing with long rests in between. I'll get there once again.......... ;) healthwise and money wise. I am slightly worried as I know my wages will drop by half within the next couple of weeks. Serious belt tightening!!!!

On a plus - I lost half a stone in 5 days - nil by mouth diet NOT RECOMMENDED lol - but now it's gone I want to keep it off :) A combination of slimming world and low fat needed to keep me healthy now. I can do this :)
