You are so right Hypno - I actually used to work as the diet chef in a hospital - that's where I met dh many moons ago - over 30 years ago LOL - but knowing what to do and actually doing it are totally different things.
Beanie that would be great - I'd be happy to reimburse you. Will pm you.
Went to The Trafford Centre today - very painless - only went in 2 shops. DH bought me a bracelet in 1st shop we went in that I've had an eye on for a while then we bought a couple of food bits in M&S - dh's idea of shopping LOL and I bought a Tapas recipe book. £15 altogether for me - slightly more for DHPlus I know what I'm getting him for a combined birthday and Christmas Pressie - men are so hard to buy for and he doesn't often express a preference to things
but he did today and it's duly noted!!

I've had a horrid tummy bug the last couple of days - felt slighty more human today and managed a bit of hm veg soup and toast. So I have been re-reading some old threads as I've been off work and been ok if sitting doing nothing but felt rubbish if attempted anything. I'm not going in work tomorrow either - need to regain a bit of energy. Plus it's not the sort of job I can do half par - need a fair bit of oomph to lift kids in and out of chairs etc and generally be one step ahead of some of their antics LOL
But reading some of the diaries has helped me focus........
SO - it is 81 days to Christmas
I am going to set an 80 day challenge to make a difference to me
HEALTH and DIET and WELL-BEING
- I am going to try the 80/20 approach. I'm going to eat smaller, home made, healthy portions of food 80% of the time and have some treats for the other 20%. Get my head into the 'positive' eating mode.
- Cook a 'new' dish each week - I had got quite good at this but slipped a bit.
- Dig out my bread maker again - I used to make a few loaves but slipped in that too.........(plus other gagets such as steamer and ice cream maker)
- I will use my 'wobble board' and 'flex band' and do exercises recommended by physio to strengthen my ankle instead of letting a 'silly little joint' beat me LOL
- Build up exercise again - swimming and more walking - do 30 minutes 3 times a week then 5 times a week
- Place notebook near bed and scribble thoughts and deeds
ENVIRONMENT
- Do a bit of tidying each day instead of leaving everything until weekend.
- Try the 15 minutes approach each evening to keeping things organised.
- Organise the garden a bit - tidy pots and not use the excuse I'm waiting for DH to 'do' the big stuff before sorting other things. Be patient and enjoy garden with dh rather than 'nagging' to finish big task he's started
- Get the correct balance of computer use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ME
- Keep nails shaped at least - maybe even polished LOL - I'm the worlds worsed for picking nail polish off!!
- Look carefully at my wardrobe - I only tend to 'do' trousers but it's not practical to wear skirts or dresses at work and I don't go out to 'posh' places that I need to wear dresses to so I only own 1 dress that I wore to a wedding 5 years ago (I actually saw a gorgeous dress in M&S at weekend but didn't even have confidence to try it on as I'd convinced myself it wouldn't fit!!) Think I need to do a bit of work in this department....
- Wear make-up more often
- Invest in some pretty ankle friendly shoes (if there is such a thing) - that is part of the reason I don't do dresses I suppose because I can't do high or unsupportive shoes!!
- Do some craft projects AND FINISH THEM
CHRISTMAS
- Put £1 a day away for Christmas 'fun'
- Continue to buy presents as and when I see them - only got a few to get now. (I've already got all monies in envelopes I'll need to get in post)
- Use up freezer over next few weeks and re-stock for Christmas as offers appear
- Bake Christmas cakes at half term
- Hire carpet cleaner and clean carpets before put decorations up mid December
MONEY
- Continue with plans I've just put in place for savings plus if there's any surplus cash at end of month add that (well I can think positively can't I) LOL
- Continue to pay £100 to 0% card
- Go out on low spend outings at every opportunity with dh and friends - still got to have fun
- Feed all spare coins into George the Cat moneybox
SO although this tummy bug has been horrid - having time off today has helped me re-focus. None of these things are mind-blowing but as I keep to them - they should make a difference to me.January spends - £587.580 -
Off work again today but will be going back tomorrow.
I have done my ironing this morning and then stopped for a snack break and a cuppa and rest. I am now going up to put it away and tidy my bedroom in small bursts.
I've had porridge with frozen raspberries and cherries for breakfast.
Just had a slice of seeded toast for a snack.
I plan hm veg soup and a pork and tomato sandwich for lunch.
Not got as far as tea yet - see how I feel after lunch........
As I tidy my bedroom I'll dig out some notes from a course I did with a nutritionist a while ago and read through them (I still do a fair few of the things she started me doing to be honest)
To the positivity mindset - it took me about 4 years to put excess weight back on after being ill - so I can't expect to loose it in 4 days or weeks LOL - I'm looking on this as a longer lifestyle change and not a 'quickfix' - basically its a matter of burning off more calories than I'm taking in...........SIMPLES - now how hard can that be?????????????lol lol lol
OUNCES MAKE POUNDS and STEPS MAKE MILES - I am strong and I can do thisJanuary spends - £587.580 -

Thanks both of you
Yes I'll update and keep going with things.
I went back to work today and found there had been 3 staff and numerous children off with the same thing. I hadn't acknowledged the sore throat I'd had last week as part of the sickness bug - but that is how it seems to have been affecting people - sore throat, then sickness followed by aches in joints - by the sound of it the manuka honey helped ward it off a bit (or my positivity is working lol) as some have had bad chests and bad tummies at both ends too - 1 little one is in hospital with it. Keep well away from this little bug as it is nasty!!! Especially you Taxi
Well thanks to Beanie - I have just listened to Paul McKenna and am part way through reading the book. Funnily enough the 4 rules he mentioned are similar principles to the notes I had from the nutritionist, but the cd must be a bonus. I'll dig out my old cd player and headphones and listen to it each evening in bed.
So Beanie a

Update
- have put skirts I no longer wear in charity bag - tidied wardrobe
- fed George the cat £2 (don't panic he's a money box)
- listened to Paul McKenna to help in getting my head around eating habits
- only spent a short time on 'puter
- used tea out of freezer
Went to Mr M's - OUCH OUCH OUCH - spent £82.........and a fair bit on treats but nothing for freezer as I'm using it up. Stocked up on beer (having visitors over weekend) - some will probably last until Christmas too. Stocked up on nuts, seeds and cranberries (I make my own mix with nuts I like - keep in a big tub and grab instead of crisps most of the time for a snack) plus a box of chocs and biscuits on offer, pringles on offer, masses of fruit and veg and some decent breakfast stuff. I hadn't planned getting all that but what isn't used at weekend will go into my Christmas stock.
Spent £20 yesterday evening too - I'd forgotten I had planned to go and see the stage version of Sister Act in Manchester (thought it was next week, luckily friend phoned to check what time we were meeting!!!!!!!!!!) thoroughly enjoyed it too. So the £20 was spent on train fare and lovely Turkish meal as I'd paid for the ticket ages ago.
So after being really good I spent £102 in two days.................. but still within my target for month.January spends - £587.580 -
Blimey, you are on a roll.
Happy listening

Update
NSD today
Happy with the food I ate - think I stopped eating when I felt full - time will tell LOL
Found old walkman to listen to Paul McKenna tape in bed
Fed George the cat £1
Whizzed around like a mad thing tidying house after work (dd and her partner are coming home for the weekend)January spends - £587.580 -
Have had a fantastic weekend (even if it was very expensive) Spent weekend with family celebrating nice things like engagements, birthdays and just being together
I'd accounted for these spends before I started my savings plan - sometimes 'life just has to be lived'
I had to smile as MIL came out with us all for Sunday lunch - she had always wanted to see the 'real snow' ski slope nearby, but never actually got around to doing anything about it. She was 90 a couple of months ago and the look of wonderment as we were on the balcony feeling the cold air and watching the skiers was a picture. We only stayed in the cold a minute or so then went and watched skiers from a window of warmth. The things memories are made of
So even though I'd planned spends - I want to check all my payments and balances tomorrow to make sure I'm still within my plan of action.
Food wise I'm happy - I don't want to weigh myself for a couple of weeks or post lists of food anymore - the Paul McKenna tape made sense to me, so I'll follow what is recommended for a couple of weeks then weigh myself before doing any 'tweeks' if there is no change or change in wrong direction :OJanuary spends - £587.580
