Thanks Beanie - had a lovely day. DH is taking me to The Trafford Centre at weekend to choose a pressie (much safer in my experience LOL) and I've had some lovely presents from people. Went out for a delicious Italian meal tonight with dh and ds - so all in all a great day. Kids at work made me a card and had fun keeping it 'secret' LOL.
It was a NSD so I was pleased with that
Off to bed now - this birthday business is fairly tiring - mmmmmmmmmmmm - or could it be a big meal and wine??????? LOLJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Belated happy birthday wishes for yesterday, milann

Thankyou Fred and Wilma - love the names!!
And Thankyou Taxi - I did have a lovely day and was spoilt.
I had a really good evening the following night too - I went to a fund raising wine tasting night. It was a tenner (which I paid a while ago)........so I expected the usual speil about various wines, a taster and then to have to buy your favourite wines at the bar. But.......it flowed very freely with a bit of speil but not too much. There were many top ups and bits of tapas to accompany each selection of wine. It was fantastic value for money and I was with some good friends so a great deal of laughing and chatting too. And all the profit went to the charity - a youth club for disabled children and their siblings - the bar didn't take a penny. A great night all round.
Moneywise I have transfered my 0% to a new one with 15 months interest free and only 1.5 transfer fee. I have opened a new saving account with the grand I'd saved to go toward old card at 3% interest and have also opened a separate 'fun' saving account with my birthday money £50 - that is 2.5 %, but I want to keep it seperate. I am hoping to deposit £250 monthly into main saving account towards forthcoming expenses and add £20 monthly into the 'fun' one . It'll be tight keeping to those amounts and paying £100 a month off the 0% (I've already set up a dd) but I'm determined to enjoy the events of next year without getting into further debt. Once the event has past I'll throw everything into clearing the new 0%.
I'm feeling in control of this whole financial thing now - a far cry from a few years ago, when I'd have just got a loan or added to a cc. I know I still have a 0% to pay, but I feel I can manage the payments whilst planning for life too
I have the sore throat from hell - I feel like a frog who has swallowed barbed wire, so am drinking copious amounts of manuka honey and lemon plus spooning the honey down me too. So not very weight friendly - but needs must I'm afraid....
Now I've controlled the cash plan the eating plan will follow - no excuses as birthday has been and gone, and I have the incentives I need. Onwards and upwards.January spends - £587.580 -
Great news on finding a balance that feels right for you.

Thanks Beanie
Had 4 NSDs in a row tooJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Throat is still sore but I'm pleased that I think it is 'only' a viral infection - nothing too gunky going on. I'm hoping it's the honey and lemon keeping it from escalating - one time as soon as I had a sore throat it turned badly infected almost immediately. I really do rate the anti-bacterial properties of Manuka honey - hope I've not just jinxed my recovery LOL
It's a lot cooler here today which I'm very pleased about - not sure if I was hot because of the weather or if I was running a bit of a temp yesterday but it was AWFUL.
Had a letter from doctors surgery to make an appointment to discuss my recent 24 hour blood pressure monitor. Hmmmm - guessing it must be high and they'll take me off HRT - which I'm not looking forward to - suppose I'd better do as I'm told and book an appointment rather than guessing though!! My cue to watch my diet and exercise too............
It is so frustrating though - as soon as I start exercising to help myself (weight and BP) it sets off another irritation - my ankle. Think I just need putting in a bag and shaking up or something LOL - could be worse - I'll find a way - NOT STUFFING my face might help - but to be honest I eat a varied diet with fruit and veg and only a few treats - just eat TOO MUCH of everything. I'm not massively overweight but I have a small frame and am only 5ft so a stone and a half makes a big difference.
Off to get my head in the right place to deal with this............January spends - £587.580 -
It is hard to do all this stuff when your head just isn't in the right place, isn't it! We all *know* what we need to do - and can put it into practice for a couple of days, feeling all virtuous, but trying to maintain it is really quite tough!
If you haven't already tried it, I can thoroughly recommend Paul McKenna's "I can make you thin" CD and book. It really does help get your head right, and everything working together in a very positive way. The portion size thing would certainly be addressed this way.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Could send you the Paul McKenna thingy if yoiu want.
