Had an expensive couple of weeks with car insurance, pre-payment prescription certificate and other things like work shoes for dh. I have saved cash by using up most of the food in my freezer then I can defrost it before I go away for to a hopefully sunny Cornwall.

I'm hoping to have enough cash to make a £1000 card payment when I get back from holiday. I could do it now but am a bit wary of leaving myself short of cash on holiday - I intend to enjoy the holiday by doing as much as I can the mse way - some bbqs, some meals out etc - even bought a orange sim card to take advantage of orange Wednesday if weather is naff. BUT a lot depends on the weather being on our side as to how much we have to spend on entertaining ourselves - it certainly WON'T be anywhere near a grand though!!!!!

Thanks guys - Hypno I'm honoured to see you on here LOL!! (I'm honoured to see Taxi and Beanie too of course - can you see the shovel in my hand as I'm digging myself a hole here LOL)

I've never been so organised!!! Washing is all done and dusted ready for the off. House is virtually sparkling, all I want to do is defrost the freezer on Saturday and put some bread and food in it for the first day back and have a last tidy round. I'm lucky that it is a sports week with kids at work so am only wearing joggers and t-shirt all week (which I'm throwing through a quick wash each night so as not to generate any extra washing and ironign before we go!!!!!!!)

I recieved £50 M&S vouchers today which I only ordered on Sunday - I very impressed with speed - from reward card. Will visit and get a couple of nice bits for hols ;)

All I need to do now is wait for Sunday and hope for the sun to get his hat on. Will leave about 4am Sunday morning and arrive dinner time - then off for a Cornish pastie and walk along sea front. The caravan must be about 25 years old but it's clean and comfy and we don't spend that much time in it as we're out and about most of the time :) I'm really looking forward to it this year - not that you'd tell :)

Take care - will be back in just over a couple of weeks with hopefully enough cash left to make that grand overpayment!!

Hi - had a fantastic holiday followed by a very busy couple of weeks back at work plus the washing, ironing etc - and now the holiday seems forever ago!!! I can't believe I've been back two weeks already. But on a positive thought only 5 weeks until I break up for the summer holidays. I'm hoping to work on a playscheme for a week during the hols and then do a few hours with my 2nd job - of course I'll have some time off too :)

I had to wait for payday, but I currnently have a grand in my ISA waiting to pay a chunk off my credit card once the 0% is over. That'll take me to just under 2 grand to pay off.

On the diet front I only put a lb on over my holiday and have since lost it along with a couple of others - that takes me to 11lb total loss - not a lot by some standards but I've done it a little at a time and it's suddenly as if something has 'clicked' and I'm sticking to a realistic eating regime that I seem to be able to stick to - got to go back to the doc to get my blood pressure and weight checked so think that has kept me focussed.

Right off to catch up on here now

Trying to organise a little gathering at my house for a family member with a very significant birthday - you wouldn't believe the obstacles I've come across. Have to wonder why I bother sometimes - but if I didn't THAT would be wrong too!! Stamping my feet and counting to 10 very slowly at the moment - think I'd better count to 100 or even 1000................ it'll be ok on the day so they say - I'll enjoy myself anyway outlaws can suit themselves LOL

Can't believe the difference in my new and old jobs - the school I work in is having a summer fair on the day of said birthday do - so I was a bit wary of telling them I couldn't support it, which I would normally be happy to do - I was told 'no problem' - at my old place one of the staff was trawled into the office for not attending a fair which was compulsory and brought to tears - a completely different attitude which will win staff over in the end rather than getting backs up!!! I'm so pleased I changed jobs and still can't believe I've been there nearly a school year :)

I've been fairly good since I came back from holiday and not over spent on things. Nothing exciting happening on money or diet front but chipping away slowly at things.
