Feel a lot happier today - did a mega tidy up even the ironing has been done - just got to put it away - so I'm on top of everything again. Dh excelled himself by cooking dinner again - roast gammon and all the trimmings. Think he might be talking himself into a job LOL. The house wasn't that bad but was really getting to me and I must have been terrible to live with yesterday, but couldn't be bothered with anything
(what's happened to the 'I don't know icon' - it's GONE) Dh used to work as a chef but since he changed carreer several years ago, he hasn't been interested in food until just recently - LONG MAY IT LAST

Just got some planning and bits to do for work, then I'll be quite content for a while.

DD doing well, just spoke on the phone and she is eating ok again, better than she has for months in fact.

A friend gave me a BIG whisky jar that used to be a pub optic about 20 years ago - I always used it for my small change - never managed to get further than to the bottom of the label and the most I had was about £35. Today as I hoovered and moved it like I must have 100's of times - the bottom fell completely out of it. I felt really gutted as the friend died about 3 years ago and I always thought of him when I put my coppers in. There was no crack in it and it wasn't too full - so WHY - I didn't even knock it. AH well - will have to bank the coins and find something else to collect coins in. Won't be the same as putting them in friends jar but hey-ho......

  • It sounds like you had a lovely weekend :T, apart from the whiskey jar. We have a pretty recycled glass jar in the kitchen with spoons/whisks etc in, and at one point that just cracked in two. OH glued it back together and it has been fine since - although it doesn't have anywhere near the weight of lots of money... just a thought.

Glad DD is able to eat well at last.

I could do with some of your motivation here, the house 'feels' like its a bit of a state. Nothing is awful so I can't pin down whats niggling me, but have neither time nor energy for a blitz so I'm going to have to live with it!!

    Cheers

Milann sounds like you had a good weekend. With the feeling tired bit - nurture yourself a bit - give yourself some pampering time - I am sure you deserve it. All the stress with your DD combined with the greyness of January will have knocked you back a bit...

Just posted a message and it's disappeared into cyberspace!!!!!!!!!!!! - so if it turns up again and I'm repeating myself SORRRYYYY

What I'd said was that SH had hit the nail on the head - buutt the nights are getting lighter slowly but surely, dd is getting a bit better each day and I'm finding time a bit of time for me time each day - be it something as simple as a nice bath and curl up with a book!!

I am going to go down for a few days to see dd at half term so am really looking forward to that, then dh is following me down at the weekend.

NSD today - no idea how many that makes this month - I've managed a few but not exactly been a typical month here. Will start counting February days on Thursday as that is when payday is even though it is still January!!

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.
I'm so glad DD is getting better and things are coming together and that you are getting some me time...all pretty balanced I'd say.
  • Yep, what Taxi said - its all about getting that balance to life!

CBM - No need to cook the onions first - the secret to the dish is to slice everything as thinly as possible. Season in between layers. I often do these potatoes with roast meat and put it in at the same time as the meat from raw - it is fairly forgiving and can (I find anyway) be cooked at the same temperature as the meat. Sometimes I add stock instead of milk and don't add cheese to ring the changes.

But when I come in from work to speed things I allow a potato per person - microwave each potato to begin the cooking process - so they are hot but not cooked - can't give a proper time as I tend to just keep testing. Use a clean teatowel to hold as I slice potato as they are a bit on the hot side by this stage and potato can be sticky too. Then I layer everything up. In between times I heat a bit of milk in microwave and pour over the top - just to top of last layer. It is hard to give a precise time as it can vary on potato type and how deep the dish is - but about the same time as a chicken portion - half an hour to an hour. I use 180 degrees to begin with and for the last 10 minutes I put oven to max to crisp the top. I'd allow extra time and if cooked earlier than you'd expect - just move to coolest part of oven until everything else is ready. - SORRY if that all seems a bit vague - but I'm a very much chuck it in and see - rather than a precise recipe follower.

Had a NSD today - and am quite pleased with my food intake too. Now just need to have a few more days like this. It definately helps to record on here and in the paper diary I have - thanks to you all for your kind comments

I made this on Thursday, cheesy version and it was really scrummy - thanks for sharing the recipe.

I hope things are ok with you, OH, and DD?

We are all ok thanks - just had a few busy days here and I have had a few early nights.

DD is doing ok, but beginning to get frustrated because she is wanting to do things but her body isn't up to doing things just yet!!

CBM - glad you enjoyed the cheesy potato bake, it is one of my favourites.

My ideas of relaxing - a hot bath and curl up in bed with a book - a natter over a drink or 3 with friends - a walk along the sea.... I am easily pleased!!

I met up with an old friend on Wednesday evening and we had a mezze sharing platter in a pub with a lovely log fire - very relaxing and theraputic - we put the world to rights BIG time:T

I had an early start on Thursday - I was at an appointment at the GP's at 7.05 AM!!!! which meant I was up at 6am - I usually only ever see 1 6o'clock a day and that's at teatime ;) Anyway I went for a follow up to the scan I had on New Years Eve - they told me at the time the cysts they'd seen previously weren't visible. I fully expected the gp to agree to giving me a coil she had told me about that would regulate my monthly friend - which is calling far too often and staying far too long for my liking these days :( But as usual things didn't go to plan!!!! She isn't too happy with some of the readings the scan showed up about the thickness of the linings - so before she will agree to the coil wants me to go to gynie  - probably for cameras and biopsies - oh joy - can't wait:rotfl:(where's the sarcastic roll eyes when you NEED it) One day I'll visit a doctors and things will be straightforward. But I was quite impressed with the new appointment system - I got a letter the following day with a choice of hospitals and how to book an appointment on line - it only took a few minutes and I have an appointment for 15th February which is half term - so I won't need time off work. I expected to wait a couple of months. I'm not unduly worried as I recently had an all clear after a smear - I think it's all linked with my age and am hoping that this coil she has mentioned will soon be fitted to get me through the next few years with minimal agro - just a bit of a niggling thought when she mentioned that this coil can 'often replace surgery' - getting a bit fed up of the 'surgery' word :rotfl:

Then went straight to work and home for a quick bite and out to college for the course I'm doing with work. After that I wanted to pay my new reward cc online and had loads of agro - I forgotten the passwords - I think I finally did it but it hasn't gone through yet - will check again Monday and if no joy will chase it up. Not too sure I made the wisest decision paying it all off as it was more than my monthly wage - BUT that will MAKE me watch my spending this coming month as I have about £100 plus my overdraft until payday on 28th February :eek: - so will have to use the cc for essential purchases. I have £150 Morrisons vouchers which I couldn't find at Christmas so should be ok!! I have to reduce my spending and this might just make me see the error of my ways :o

I went out for a Chinese for ds birthday last night - food was ok but not exceptional - we still had a good night anyway.

I finally got over to Leeds today to deliver the presents which I've been trying to deliver since mid-December but with snow, visiting hospitals and then fog last weekend not had a lot of luck. Kids liked the presents and didn't seem to mind them being late :)

Off to check out the diaries now - missed my daily fix:D:D:D
