Thanks savingholmes - will defo give MBNA a go as long as I pay it off each month - which is what I planned to do anyway. I couldn't have even contemplated doing that a year or so ago. Shows how my mindsett has changed ;)

Went for a scan today - they found a cyste so got to see gp in 2 weeks and got to go for another scan in 6 weeks to see the difference - one day I'll do something straightforward and not get to know medical personnel on first name terms with repeat visits  At least I've had smear results back and got all clear so whatever it is isn't too serious - I still think its all age related :p

hi Milann - I religiously pay my cashback card in full every month - no matter what the pain as it were! I don't count that in my debts at all just as a way of buying things and getting some dosh back for doing so!

Rather you than me wi the medical issues - like you say at least the smear was clear which is good!

Went to Morrisons and stocked up with things that will keep as I wanted to spend the first £40 to get the £25 for Christmas. Cupboards are fairly full thankfully because I have been taking advantage of various offers and batch cooking to fill the freezer. Next week I plan to get a few things for use over the week and stock up on a few cans of beer etc for Christmas, thus spending 2nd of 4 lots of £40. But am planning to live from the cupboards and freezer - freeing up cash to finish Christmas pressy shopping. Seems a bit extravegant spending the £40 when I don't need the stuff immediately - but am only buying things I would have bought in at a later date IYKWIM.

Being treated out to meal tomorrow - don't really want to go but the aftermath if I don't would be horrendous. So in true MSE style - I'll view it as a free meal - and grin and bear it for the sake of getting financially straight!!

    Have a good weekend everyone

  • These offers can be difficult to balance can't they, only you will know whether investing £40 a week for 4 weeks to get £25 is worth it. I did some Christmas shopping and got some bits and pieces at Boots to get quite a bit of money back in Advantage card points, but was really conscious that what I wanted to do more that anything else was get the overdraft paid off this month... swings and roundabouts.

Hope your meal out goes ok... sounds like 'good luck' is more in order than 'have fun'...

The meal came and went - food was quite good but there were a few awkward moments between various relatives. Pity because it could have been a whole lot better than it was. Families!!!

Went out for nice walk today along canal in countryside. Car started to make an awful noise as we travelled back. Needs a new exhaust got one priced at place across from dh's work so it will go in first thing in the morning (they were closing as we called in today) so thats £190 I wasn't planning to pay out this month:eek: Not sure if I could get an exhaust cheaper elsewhere but the convenience of having it done right across the road from dh's work will outweigh having to have a morning off work to get it sorted. They'll just drop the keys back when it's done.

Did a bit of Christmas shopping yesterday - found buckets of Butterkist popcorn at the Cadbury outlet shop £1.99 for a big bucket so I was quite happy about that to go with cinema vouchers for older nieces.;) Bought a 3 teir cake stand for dd and when I got it home it was chipped so that will have to go back.

    Where did weekend go.

Got an appointment with a dietician tomorrow - hopefully she will have a cunning plan that I haven't already tried to help with my digestive system.

Have just posted but being the technophobe I am - goodness knows where it is :o so here goes again - if t'other one turns up and I end up repeating myself - I'm sorry:rotfl:

Meal came and went - food was quite good but a few awkward silences were noticed!! Done my bit for 'family peace' for the forseeable future.

Went out for ride today in sunshine and walk along canal - car started making awful noise on way home. Called in exhaust mending centre - needs a new one. So that is £190 I hadn't planned on spending this month :eek:. Booked it in for tomorrow. Could maybe have found it a bit cheaper but this place is right across form dh's work and can be dropped off and they'll just pop keys back when its done. Cheaper than loosing pay taking time off going elsewhere.
