Milanns mutterings on this last milestone.

November will certainly be a challenge for the NSD's - will not try not to set a challenge of too many as I know I'll be setting myself up to fail. I'll aim for 2 a week - any more will be a bonus.
Bought some mutton yesterday at the farm shop in Tatton Park - so have made some hotpot today - 1 for tea tonight and one for the freezer. Made parkin and a cherry cake too so a productive NSD again.January spends - £587.580 -
:j Quite pleased 2/2 NSD's so far :j
Went back to work today - think this must be my favourite term - I love the build up to Christmas. Hard work but lots of fun to be had too.

Well done on NSD, I've managed 1/2 but succumbed to new Ben Elton book on Amazon.
What is Parkin? I am quite a new cook and am enjoying trying cooking new things, especailly if they are easy and veggie.
CbmJan 08: Debt £15,211  Debt cleared April 30th 2010Proud to have dealt with my debt! Currently building up savings.:TWith enormous thanks to everyone on the forums and:money:0 -
CBM - Parkin is a treacle, syrup and oat based cake usually eaten on bonfire night. It is better if it is left a few days before eating as it usually goes sticky - so not eaten it yet.
Savingholmes - I went to the meeting yesterday lunchtime  - but made a point of going out for a 10 minute walk first - arriving slightly late. Nothing was said about this. There shouldn't have been a meeting today - next was scheduled for Thursday. About 11.30 (meetings start at midday) - the teacher in charge of the morning sessions came and said it had been changed to today. I said I was sorry, but needed a break and it was not acceptable having to work all day without one and certainly not two days running. She sympathised with this and decided to leave it until Thursday. Next I saw her in bosses office with door shut so I headed quickly out to the shop. As I came back 40 minutes later at the end of my lunch break - everyone (except office staff and bosses) were sitting in their teams having meetings. I preceeded to go and hang my coat up - promptly followed by the teacher in charge of the afternoons - who told me boss has changed the afternoon meeting we usually have on a Monday has now been changed to a Thursday - thus avoiding 2 meetings in a row!! ( afternoon teacher doesn't agree with lunchtime meeting either) - I said ok - BUT - if I need a break I am taking one - she said fair enough. I have expected being dragged into the office for my actions - but nothing yet. We have just had a new director appointed and am fully expected being taking to one side and having to have a 'chat' - I have already voiced my concerns nicely to him and in fairness he did listen - but old boss who is now 2nd in command says there is no other time we are all together as there is a mixture of full and part-time staff involved. I suggested relieving staff at some other time then to take break - thought the poor woman was going to choke - as this would probably involve employing cover staff.
The ironic thing is we have just been handed a document about health and safety - HA- there is something in it to cover every eventuality and it goes on about the trustees have a duty of care to children and staff. So next week when I need and take a break instead of a meeting - I'll quote said document if anything is said and take it from there. I have asked where we stand legally should an accident occur to a child in our care if we haven't had a break - I didn't get an answer. Sorry to ramble
:o but that's how it is LOL LOL
Bought a coffee and flapjack at shop today at lunchtime since I went out - so that ruined my NSD as it cost £2.30. Not a bad price for an eat in deli with homemade cake though. Ate my dinner en-route to shop LOL
Had results from mammogram and smear through post today - both fine. Had flu jab this morning at work and that was no problem either.
Was shattered and in bed fast asleep at 9pm last night - roll on next holidays!!!!!!

Do you mean that while these meetings are going on that there is no one looking after the children?
Perhaps an annonymous tip off to OFSTED will make them see the error of their ways.0 -
glad results were clear that must be a big relief!
well done for standing up to them on the meetings. They are breaching the working time regs in what they are doing at the moment - so unless you have opted out of them they can't do this!
It is also illegal to victimise someone for exercising their wtr rights
I have been asked to do something on the night shift so I've said fine but I will be in late in the morning - work for a bit - have a long tea break rather than lunch break and then not work Fri am. Just potentially do some notes from home instead if I still owe any other time.... Sometimes you have to start as you mean to go on. I refused to do the meeting last week as it didn't fit with my family needs....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Lemon Tree - I know that feeling sooo well!!!!
Taxi - children are never left alone - lunchtime staff are with the children over our 'lunchtimes' LOL - I still haven't been challenged about not attending.
Had a few busy days - went out to Trafford Centre two evenings running - an evening with my ds doing some birthday shopping then we went on Thursday to free firework display which was very good and we finished it off with a 50% off food at La Tasca - funny how food always tastes better with a money off voucher and absolutely scrumptious if it's totally free!!!!!!
Just waiting for dd to arive with her oh. It's dh's birthday on Sunday so it will be good to be together for the weekend.
Had an expensive few days all in all - but mainly all costs were accounted for so not quite as bad as usual. There is a run of birthdays one after another from mid October until the end of November then of course it's Christmas - this year I'm more prepared than I've ever been for them
