Where has time gone...........
I had a fantastic time at the wedding and everything went more than well. The happy couple have been on honeymoon for a month and are now back. Since the wedding was 200 miles from home some of the family weren't able to make we are having a get together at ds home on 12th.
After the wedding was mad dash organising Christmas presents - I'm never leaving it until December again!!!!! MADNESS. But it was all sorted on time despite the nasty sicky bug that half the world seem to have had.
Moneywise I think I've done ok BUT can't log on to my accounts for some strange reason. Spent a long time on the phone trying to sort it out yesterday and am now waiting for new log in codes so I can go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I have bought most things on 0% card and will pay it off in full once the bills come in mid January - I'm half holding my breath to make sure there is enough cash in bank account to cover it all - it will be a close call
Then back to some belt tightening to try and build up some reserves again. SO annoyed that I couldn't do the number crunching I wanted to do - but once I get new log in should be a little wiser..........January spends - £587.580 -

Bought some meat at nice butchers for 'do' at weekend for dd and her new dh. Other than that no spends.
Had a lovely day in the garden cutting ivy and bushes back - lovely to see a little bit of brightness if not quite sunshine today after all the rain we have had. Filled the green recycling bin to overflowing - lots of buds beginning to showon plants and bulbs well and truly shooting through - think I'm trying to convince myself spring is only round the cornerJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Back to reality with a bump here.
I'm ashamed to admit I have been burying my head in the sand and having some lovely spending sprees using the money I'd saved for the wedding and Christmas and then 2nd wedding 'do' as lots of family couldn't make it to the actual wedding. Then there's been birthdays, meals out, new clothes and generally biggish spends.......... I'd quite enjoyed myself lol - but this fun was FOLLOWED BY CC BILL!!!!
I pay my cc bill each month and use it to collect Tesco points. The last couple have been high but I knew I'd covered them with my savings so I didn't worry too much about how much I'd spent. It's scary how easily I have reverted back to just throwing items in the basket, or just gone out from work without even a thought of the cost. This month's bill has just arrived - I WILL have enough to pay it in full when I get paid on 15th - and it will get it there in time. But that will be my wages taken care of for the following month.........can't decide whether or not to pay it all or just some of it - BUT I'd promised myself I'd pay it each month to stop interest and collect points..... I don't want to start on the slippery slope of interest again......... mmmmmmmmmmmm think I need to pay it all and have a tight month to bring myself back to reality.
Other than this cc, I owe the loan I took out last year which I estimate with interest to be £9600. It was my plan to start making overpayments from this month and get the loan paid off more quickly - but that will have to start next month now.
I also want to save to do something special during October half term for my dh as he will be 60 at the beginning of November.
SOOOOOOO - back to basics this month -
- walking where possible instead of the car
- home cooking - using what I have in except fresh fruit and veg
- spending diary
- coming back on here to keep grounded in all things MSE!!
On a plus - if I hadn't paid all my old ccs and saved for the wedding in the first place - I'd have been in a real mess now - NO intention of ever letting that happen again
This has been my wake up call!!!!!!!!!!

Paid my cc card off this month and kept spends to a minimum. So far I have only bought fresh fruit, veg and bread and petrol. This has taken me to just over £100 - most of that being on the petrol but I intend to make it last all month. So far so good.............January spends - £587.580

Thanks Taxi - feel in control of my finances at the moment - hope I've not just tempted fate
there are no birhdays any time soon and I'm still up for a storecupboard challenge and I've resumed trying to save a bit for dh 60th later this year - so looking and feeling OK
MMMMMMMMMM - wish I could say the same about my weight loss - or should that be weight gainhave put on over well half a stone since mid January........I was shocked when I weighed in on Thursday - don't know WHY I was shocked as I've filled my face with crisps, sweets a glass of vino or 3 and CAKE everywhere I've turned there has been lovely home made cake!!!!!! So - enough is enough - I have drawn a line and started from scratch again - I've been studying my books, writing everything down and even contemplating a lower target weight than I'd previously chosen - but I need to get back to that target first. Basically I need to get a wriggle on and eat less than I burn off - not rocket science - SO WHY is it so HARD to do.
I'm feeling flat and fed up but not sure why - think I just need a bit of warmer, brighter weather.
But Im feeling very proud of 3 friends at work who have abseiled down Old Trafford Football in aid of a local children's hospice - one of my friends had the misfortune to find out how well they care for a family who loose a child- very sad. But she abseiled in her daughters memory and between them have raised £900 :A
