My thoughts exactly Beanie
Have been to my great nephews christening today and had a lovely time - although I admit I very nearly called off. I must still have the knack as he fell asleep on my shoulder after being very tetchy - and it's only the 2nd time I've met the little fella.
We visited a garden centre on the way home though and I parted with £30 worth of pots and plants. Plus I spent about £20 (that could well be a big under estimation as I didn't add up too carefully......) yesterday at Southport Flower Show. Plants and craft stuff are my downfall but it's ages since I actually crafted anything.........so I'm wondering WHY I have agreed to go the Big create and craft show in Manchester in
a couple of weeks with my SIL. I know I'll enjoy my day but I will be bound to succumb to some paper, cards and gagets to add to the stash of stuff I have in my dds old room - laughingly known as my craft room. I do wonder if the hobby is collecting the stash rather than 'doing' the craft....... I can't actually remember the last time I did any scrap booking or card making!!!!!
I MUST sort out my bedroom tomorrow and then tidy the rest of the house. I wish I had a tidy gene but that particular gene must have skipped me. I seem to spend my time having mega tidy ups instead of doing it bit by bit as I go along. I know it makes sense to do it there and then but it just doesn't seem to happen. My reward when it's done will be a swimbut I'm not putting a toe into the water until the house is sparkling

Well I never did get that swim. It took me longer to get the house in order than I'd have hoped as I kept getting distracted and I never did get my swim. I've spent a fair bit of time over at ds house decorating - the end is in sight with only 1 internal door then the inside of the porch to paint. I'm going tomorrow to do the door and then clean the windows and all the decorating dust and bits throughout. The porch will wait for another time. I'm quite pleased with the results - the whole house painted from new plaster and bare wood. Seems as if we've been doing it forever in between work and life....... It now has furniture in most of the rooms and feel like a home. Looking forward to him cooking us a celebratory meal when his kitchen goes in next week
it's good to feel useful and appreciated.
It's the last week of the holidays and I really don't know where they have gone. I'm going to try and have a lazy day at some point before I go back as I don't seem to have stopped.
Moneywise I need to find a new saving account as the one I've been saving in for the wedding runs out of it's higher rate of interest at the end of September. But by the time I've given dd our contribution towards the proceedings (which she isn't expecting and it's me who wants to contribute) there won't be much left in there but need to find more than 0.5% for the little I'll have left.January spends - £587.580 -
We have been back at work a week and I am quite pleased to be back in a routine. I need to get my spends and eating back into some sort of routine.
I have had a few no spend days this week which is a bonus after the last few weeks off work where I seem to have spent lots.
I'm still having a few problems with my tummy after being in hospital a few weeks ago so I re-visited the doctor who has arranged for another scan. It's not as bad has it has been more discomfort than pain but I'd rather get it sorted before it gets too bad again.January spends - £587.580 -

Thanks - I go for the scan on Monday. I'm quite surprised how quickly the appointment has come through - not sure if that's good or bad
but I should know something fairly soon I hope and if they'll need to do anything. I'm hoping it'll just be something and nothing
I want to do some tidying tomorrow and plan a fairly quiet weekend.January spends - £587.580 -

Thanks - had a bit of a funny old weekend. I couldn't really settle to anything and it took me all day yesterday to tidy up which in reality should have taken no more than a couple of hours.
I went food shopping today and I needed to stock the freezer up. I spent nearly £180 pounds. Which is more than my Christmas food shop last year. This should last a good long while though. I think somewhere at the back of my mind I wanted to reassure myself there is plenty of food in the house - just in case my imaginary worse case scenario happens tomorrow. I threw all sorts into the trolly!!!! It took ages to portion up and put everything away. I'll only need fresh food for a good few weeks:)
I'm not quite sure why this latest scan has affected me this way - I usually take everything in my stride, but for some reason am a little on edge about this one. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong tomorrow - although in reality I probably won't even know anything for a couple of weeks.January spends - £587.580 -
grrrr - just written a post that ended up in cyberspace when internet access went down!!!!
I went for scan yesterday and lady said nothing at all other than make an appointment with gp in a weeks time. I want to see the doctor who sent me in the first place to discuss what he thinks the outcome is and he is on holiday. So I have an appointment for a week on Thursday. I'm happy with this and have things back into perspective - if it had been mega serious they's have sent me straight back
I have done some serious thinking about the lax way I have been shopping of late - £20-£30 every couple of days in supermarket. SO I did a mega shop on Sunday topped up with a few bits I couldn't get yesterday. I want to monitor how long it lasts and if I spend less in the long term.
I am going to keep a spending diary again starting from my last payday which was 15th September. I'm keeping a record over 4 headings to help me keep focussed.
Spends so far this month
Household £210
Petrol £000
Entertainment £000
Clothes £020
Looking at those totals it is scary as it's only 3 days since payday -buuuuttt - in theory I should only need a few fresh bits each week, we shall see lolJanuary spends - £587.580
