Hi everyone.
Please help.
BT are the worst provider I have ever had in my life.
I live 2 miles out of City centre.
The max speed my phone line will hold is 2.25meg and that has already been upgraded.
I am on the phone to someone now from INDIA (British telecome indeed!!!)
I have contacted them complaining using the form on their website. They have phoned me up to say nothing is wrong, im too far from exchange and cant get any better.
There is no fibre optic in my area (it stops about 0.3miles from my house) so I cant get virgin. And as BT hold my line If i leave i will still be stuck with this !!!!!! speed.
I have asked them why they cant give me another line that can support faster and all im getting is them skirting round the subject. I have asked the person I am on the phone to to put this in an email so i have written evidence and he says he cant, all he can do is put it on his notes system. WHich i think is disgusting. He is now trying to transfer me to his manager to send me it in an email however i have been on holder for over 26 minutes as his manager is on other calls and he cant do a call back!!!! Makes me feel racist even though im not!!
Anyway. what the hell can I do!!!!
Please help.

I gave up, i couldnt wait anymore for his manager to come on the phone. The guy said he has put in the notes that he doesnt have the facility to email me regarding the convo and that all he can do is put it in his notes. STUPID!!!!
He couldnt even give me an email address to complain to! IM SO STRESSED!! Why do we have to put up with this level of service!!!
Can someone give me an email address.0 -
as far as I remember their only obligation is to supply the phone line , the broadband speed is a bonus. I don't think there is any way they will change the line
might not be what you want to hear though
ps...they are starting the upgrade over the next year to push the speeds up to 24meg which will push the speed up on yoursEx forum ambassador

How can they justify charging someone this amount for such a !!!!!! internet speed. And how can they justify calling it BRITISH telecome when all i get is an indian bloke who ant got a bloody clue. I can see how speaking to BT would make people racist.0

Are you downloading loads of stuff? If not, I would have thought 2.25 meg was more than adequate. On the subject of call centre location, BT are bringing back over half of their Indian call centre operations to the UK this year. If you type complaints into the search engine at https://www.bt.com it will tell you what you need to do to contact them. Finally, it's telecom, not telecome! ;-)0

OP, have you done any checks yourself?
Obtain your router statistics.
Then try plugging your router into the Master test socket and see if that improves them.

BTW The BT network is fibre optic, its the last mile from the exchange that is still copper.
Virgin bring the fibres down to the street cabinet, however its still a copper cable that comes into you property. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

2.25Mbs is adequate (the Digital Britain report wants everyone to have 2Mbs) - and it isn't BT's fault you live that far from the exchange
BT cannot change the laws of physics, if your line is long, then the speed will be slower than if you lived 500m closer to the exchange (as the phone wire goes).
So other than moving, your only other option is to wait for 24Mbs broadband to go live at your exchange, or migrate your connection to an LLU supplier (if there is one on your exchange, and supports 24Mb) - though you may see no real difference0 -

When i download something like an music album and it takes at least 8 hours with a 2.25 and im paying £25 nearly for unlimited download then i think i have every right to complain.
I also have the right to complain that they have refuse to discuss it in writing (makes you wonder if its cos they cant back out of something if its in writing).
Also they keep saying my line wont support any higher, so I said, cant you give me a different line and an indian bloke said if i wanted another line i had to phone sales!!! so i phoend sales and they passed me back through to technical!!!! can you understand why im fed up.0
