EasyJet Checked Luggage max weight - 2 pax 1 bag

Hi,
We have pre-purchased one checked bag between two passengers for our return flight to Sofia with easyjet.
The ticket states:
1 Hold bag(s) per flight between all passengers combined
The 2 passenger(s) in this booking may check in a combined total of 1 hold bag(s) for each flight on this booking. The total hold weight must not exceed 32 kg. Selecting additional bags to check in won't increase the total hold weight allowed.
This would indicate that we can take one bag between us, maximum weight 32kg. But then later down the page it says:
Baggage policy. Each hold bag is charged at £16.00 per bag at the airport. Each passenger is entitled to carry 20 kg of hold baggage spread over a maximum of 8 hold bags. Extra weight may be purchased during the booking process, otherwise excess weight fees will be payable at the airport if the total weight exceeds 20 kg. If you need to take more bags than you have currently booked, please add the relevant charges to your booking. Purchasing additional bags does not increase your weight allowance.
At £9 per kg, I really dont want to turn up to the airport with over 20kg if i am going to be charged, but I think that this is confusing and the website dows not clarify. Dont want to pay £1 per min to call easyjet.
So if you check one bag, between two passengers, is the total weight allowance of that one bag 20Kg or 32Kg without paying extra?

Thanks

You are allowed 20kg without paying any extra charges.0

Easyjet allows you to pool luggage as long as everyone is on the same booking.
So with 2 or more people the maximum in one bag without additional charge is 32kg - as the booking system shows you0 -

You have only paid for one hold bag so you will be allowed 20kg between you both.If you had 32kg in 1 hold bag but had just paid for 1 person to have hold luggage then you would be charged excess over the 20kg.
If you had paid for 2 people to have hold luggage then you could have 1 bag weighing 32kg and another up to 8kgs as you would have a 40kg combined allowance."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -
Not sure about no extra charges for 32kg - this is off the Easyjet website:
The maximum acceptable weight for each single piece of checked-in hold baggage is 32kg. Baggage which exceeds this weight will not be accepted for carriage.
Where checked-in hold baggage exceeds 20kgs in weight (subject to the above rule), each passenger will pay an excess baggage charge per kg up to a passenger maximum of 50kgs
The way I read it is you can take 32kg in one bag, but anything over 20kg (assuming you have only paid for one hold bag) and you will pay extra charges. Perhaps someone who works for Easyjet can confirm ?0 -
Try doing a booking with 2 people & 1 bag - you get 32kgsloppychops wrote: »You have only paid for one hold bag so you will be allowed 20kg between you both.If you had 32kg in 1 hold bag but had just paid for 1 person to have hold luggage then you would be charged excess over the 20kg.

Yes you can have your bag weighing 32kg but as you have only paid for 1 bag anything over the 20kg is excess and you will be charged for this.If you want a bag weighing 32kg you have to pay for 2 lots of baggage.alanrowell wrote: »Try doing a booking with 2 people & 1 bag - you get 32kg"Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -
This is taken from a current Easyjet booking, where I have paid for 1 bag between 2 people:
Baggage policy. Each hold bag is charged at £16.00 per bag at the airport. Each passenger is entitled to carry 20 kg of hold baggage spread over a maximum of 8 hold bags. Extra weight may be purchased during the booking process, otherwise excess weight fees will be payable at the airport if the total weight exceeds 20 kg. If you need to take more bags than you have currently booked, please add the relevant charges to your booking. Purchasing additional bags does not increase your weight allowance.
Baggage allowance. Each paying passenger may take one standard piece of hand baggage, dimensions 55x40x20cm. The number of standard checked-in hold baggage stated for your booking must weigh no more than 20kg in total. The 20kg hold bag weight allowance (per passenger) does not increase with the addition of further hold bags. Extra weight may be purchased during the booking process. Additional charges payable at the airport will apply if you exceed the pre-paid weight limit.
Think it's fair to say it's as clear as mud - I certainly won't be taking more than 20kg, not getting stung for crazy baggage charges so the wife can take about 8 pairs of shoes !0 -
So why does the booking process and the link posted by kiki21 say that 2 people, 1 bag means you can have 32kg with no penaltysloppychops wrote: »Yes you can have your bag weighing 32kg but as you have only paid for 1 bag anything over the 20kg is excess and you will be charged for this.If you want a bag weighing 32kg you have to pay for 2 lots of baggage.0 -
Obviously you are reading it differently to how i did.
I have flown with Easyjet many times and its definetly only 20kg per person. If only 1 hold bag has been paid for then 20kg is all you will get.
For anyone reading this dont think for 1 min that you can pay for 1 hold bag and be allowed 32kg (as others seem to think you can) for 2 people as it wont happen and you will be charged excess."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0
