I'm thinking that I now know why Cat ended up at the rescue centre in the first place ... 2 mice within the space of 3 hours . One sadly expired the other safely released.

I'm off to try to find out if there's anything I can do to stop him ... other than rehome :(

If anyone has any bright ideas I'd love to hear them.
  • Difficult one that Lula-Our cat used to do the same and i would tell her off and put the mice in the bin. She would wail the place down, but once she knew i meant business would not bring them in for fear of me taking them off her. I think it is a persistence thing here is a link which has a few ideas

Sorry don't know anything about cats but wish you well in finding the solution as it must be awful with all the presents you are left.

Thanks guys - have just been reading over on the pet board & that link from Bob too - it seems like I'm doing all the right things so far - keeping him at night, not making a fuss when he does bring them in & just putting him in another room while we return whatever it is to the great outdoors.

I have been wondering whether to lock him out of the house during the day, but it does rather go against the whole point of rehoming a rescue animal

He has such a lovely temperament otherwise, but apart from the actual gore I really hate that he's killing these sweet little creatures for fun - apart from the ugly old toad thing - definitely not sweet .

I miss the hamster we had - what a character, so easy to care for & vegetarian too :j. Perhaps we should have got a zebra, giraffe, cow or maybe even an elephant :rotfl:.

    Hi Lula!

I'm amazed that you *can* stop a cat bringing "presents" home..... but I'm glad you might be able to retrain the moggie, I'd hate it too, and yep, feeling so sorry for all the little ones he finds :( the biggest things my cats ever killed were a spider and a moth, and both times they were kind of surprised they managed it :rotfl:they weren't exactly hunter killers, tho they thought they were until they hit the sharp end :rotfl:

Ah well, it's now afternoon & I am getting lazier by the minute ... didnt get up til after 10 today :o.

One load of washing out on the line, one in progress & it's looking like I may have to start the de-conifering soon :(. I dont mind the actual wielding it's the multiple extension leads, dragging ladder out of shed & the disposal of debris, now that the tip is closed.

Enough delaying tactics - just need to get on with it *slouches off to the shed draggig heels*
