    Hi,

I work in healthcare and we advise as per the things mentioned on the 'patient.co.uk' website. Type in 'enuresis' or bed wetting. You shoud be able to get the bed wetting alarms from the chemist.

squidge - not being argumentative but why do you think waking the child is wrong? If it works for some people what's the problem? IMO there isn't a 'right' way or a 'wrong' way to address this - finding the way that suits your child is surely the best way.
I have always felt its a bad idea to wake your child (but thats imo)and thats why i put good luck with whatever you do  Maybe i have just been lucky with mine they werent very old when they went dry :confused:But then i was 2yrs old when i was dry day/night so ....
  • We wake our 5 year old before we go to bed. She does a massive pee! So would never last the night. We have had dry nights before she was 4.

She also gets herself up in the night too sometimes.

I noticed that many of the links above show more trainer pants for older todlers/young children. Don't these companies realise that many children are not easily trained at night and need a product more like a nappy, rather than something that is going to hold a dribble?
P.S. Many thanks for the links. The Snazzy pants bedtime pants do look interesting.

I always had to lift my kids or walk them half asleep to the loo at around 10pm, if i missed that slot i would often have a wet bed. My youngest son had a very weak bladder and we found that any type of juice or fizzy drink went straight through him. Somehow they just irritated his bladder. I restricted drinks after 5pm as well. To cope with the wet beds i bought a cotton cot sheet that had a waterproof membrane in between and put that across the bed so that when there was a wet bed i could just wip that off and the bed was dry underneath. I also had a waterproof mattress cover underneath but i could not get on with the waterprood duvet cover as it made too much noise.
You could try and take the nappies off now make sure your bed is waterproofed, restrict drinking after t time, make sure she goes to the toilet before bed and lift her a couple of hours later, perhaps on the first night you could set your alarm for around 2 to lift her again. If after a couple of days it does not work then just go back to what you are doing now. There are some children who are just not dry at night for a long time, i know of two children who were at least 11 before they were dry, so try not to worry .

My DD has had this problem with 2 of the GC and the thing that worked was to completely ban cola drinks. I know it sounds weird but there is apparently something in the colour that stimulates the bladder. It certainly worked for our GC so worth a try even if you think its funny. Good luck.

Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!

There you go then. I knew there must be a good reason why it works. Thanks Firefly.
