    hello all

thank you for the response minus one person who i shall not mention i have found this very helpful and think that as i have got into a pattern of taking him to toilet at 10pm i will cut it down by half hour a month at a time until it is the time he goes to bed.

please continue it i will show my partner who is the one more concerned than me.

    :)

and i will try those bedtime pants he use to think the pull ups were pant and just wet them like he was wearing a nappy :s

Good luck with that - and take no notice of PolishBedSoiler (oops sorry - keyboard playing up again) PolishBigSpender - the thread obviously struck a chord for him/she to react like that methinks!

The problem will resolve itself in time. I work with kids of all ages who have this problem for many reasons ranging from being deeply disturbed to simply either being in an extremely deep sleep and unable to wake when the need to go occurs. I know it is difficult to deal with at the time but it should eventually stop.

Don't be worrying about it. My friend's 12 yr old daughter still wets the bed at least twice a week. She has been back and forward to the doctors for years, and they can find nothing wrong with the child. Just put it down to her relaxing into such a deep sleep, she just has not control over her bladder at all. Consequently, she has missed out on sleep-overs, camping with the brownies, school trips etc. Sad, but hey, what can you do? As she is better than she was when she was little, there is a good chance she will cure herself naturally of this, but until then, its rubber-backed sheeting!
    keep smiling,

My ds is 6 next week and still wets the bed, some weeks its every night, others it can be just 3 or 4 times in the week. Think I'll look into the kylie sheets mentioned. I'll try anything to help make it abit easier to deal with.

If you get the Kylie sheets, don't use fabric conditioner when you wash them, as it affects their absorbancy. They are really good though.

    Hi all

I have tried on numerous occasions to get my dd to have a dry bed but nothing seems to work. She is very big for her age and I'm finding the cost of pull ups hard to manage and also they will not fit her for much longer. When would be the right time to see the GP for her to be referred?

    TIA

GPs generally don't do anything until about 7. It's quite common for children to be wetting at this age.

Rather than the pull ups could you not just use a cheaper own brand of nappy? A lot of people like Lidl own brand... Or maybe get a couple of washables, they're about £10-15 each but you would only need a couple depending on how often you put a wash on... It might help her with regards to feeling wet too...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi,, my sons are 4 and 6 (both with birthdays at the end of the year), neither are dry at night. I have tried most things. I spoke to my health visitor who said that the Dr won't do much until they are 7. She gave my a leaflet with some helpful tips.

Good luck. It does get expensive with pull-ups and sometimes they even leak through them.

    Hi,
I have been through exactly what you are going through. My DD has only been night dry since easter - she is 6yo and also big for her age, so don't worry she will get there. I know what you mean about hte pull ups!

Anyone know where to get the washables for older children? I didn't use them when she was a baby, but it seems like a really good idea now that she is older and may get to feel when she is wet... i'm sure she won't like the feeling.
