Me - after what you have done to me - lets not talk about the bucket of water left on door frame!!

I think I am being good!

But it didn't get you, did it? My cushions are on their second spin cycle and I can still see goo in the washing machine! ;)

The job thing is hard and I can see your reasons for waiting but on the other hand it will sort your problems.

Why don't you apply, just to see, and interview practice never harmed anyone :)

Cor, that Radish is well bossy! ;)

Yes I am bossy (the joys of internet forums)

Right, I have NOT applied for the job for the following reasons:

    1) Work experience in the industries I want to get into is the first priority: I really feel that it is do or die at the minute. If I don't try to do it now, it will never happen.

So what are you doing to get work experience in this field as if you don't do it now it will never happen :rotfl:

    2) Said job is not in industry I want to get into, but something different which I think would make me happy in other ways, but as the website says, they are *always* looking for people with those skills, so I know that if I don't apply now and wait a month or two, all is not lost. I don't think I can say the same for the work experience.

Do both then you have options

    3) This job would mean that I would pretty much ALWAYS be working abroad: I would have to go where they send me, whenever they want. I've been there and done that during my uni years/just after, and I don't really want a job where I *have* to be abroad: I don't want to come back if I leave it in a few years to realise that I am completely out-of-synch with everyone I know and love and that their lives have changed and moved on without me. I wouldn't rule it out, though, but I'm not prepared to do it just yet.

If you are not prepared to do it now, then I don't think you will ever be ready, which isnt a criticism, moving all the time isn't right for some people

But you could meet loads of new friends and the man of your dreams :rotfl:

    4) At this very minute the new batch of graduates will be flooding the market and with them being that bit more up-to-date with their language skills, they will probably have the edge over me. In that respect, I'm definitely better to wait a few months until they've either been accepted/rejected as they might look at me more seriously.

Poppy c*ck - they may be up-to-date but you have more experience

NO! I just wrote THE hugest post, then tried to delete the last smiley and it deleted it all bar the following :(:(:

I've had a very busy few days and things are not going to get any less busy this week, so this may well be my only time on here for the foreseeable future:

Right, here I go again :

I've had a very busy few days and things are not going to get any less busy this week, so this may well be my only time on here for the foreseeable future:

    General news:
    • Have been doing all the background stuff to do with getting work experience, and am gearing up to harass systematically people by phone/e-mail/mail this week.
    • Have lots of nail practice etc. to do this week as there's not long to go now, and I've had a few enquiries about hiring out my services. Obviously, I want to make sure that they are up-to-scratch before commiting, but there's one lady, who wants me in a few weeks, I want to get a good report from, as I'm sure her word-of-mouth will do me a lot of good.
    • Have joined a gym. Some people came handing round flyers for a gym near work last week, which I think has recently been taken over by a new company, at work late last week. They have a '6 weeks for £40' offer on, so I investigated and signed up as I REALLY need to get fit, my liability is restricted to 6 weeks and it's not a contract. £40 is about £6.60 a week, which means that if I go twice a week, it's cheaper than going swimming at the local recreation centre, so I can't complain. Plus, it's only a few miles away from my house on days off, so I'm likely to go.
    • I feel really bad about going on about that row I had with my mum. Much as I could have knocked her over the head with a wet fish (and in that respect, having a bit of a rant about it probably was a better way of dealing with it), I don't want to give the impression that she is all bad: far from it. We (her, my brother and I) have had to deal with a simply unbelieveable amount of carp since dad died (I don't mention it here as it's higly litigous - you never know who is reading - and it sounds like some unbelieveable, convaluted Eastenders storyline which would make even me roll my eyes and say 'Oh, puhlease, how many times can one family who have done nothing wrong realistically get sued? Get a new scriptwriter!'), and she has done so with amazing strength and grace. As a result, I'm going to shut my little pickled mouth :silenced: , although the row did make me realise that it's do-or-die with regard to work experience, so perhaps that particular cloud has had a silver lining.
    MSE news:
    • Have some more bits to buy for the nail course. *Sigh*
    • Shouldn't have really spent the £40 for the gym membership, but I have a feeling that it's going to do me good.
    • Have just come to the end of that bottle of uber-expensive shampoo. I am not amused. Give it its due, it has done the job, but it costs an arm and a leg! I have tried my best, even in the hairdressing suppliers, to find it cheap, but it only gets sold directly to salons, so I've taken the only other option available to me and bought a 1L salon-sized bottle off Ebay. It has still cost me just northwards of £35 , but that works out at the equivalent of just under £9 per small bottle as opposed to the £13.75 it cost me for the little bottle. Rock, meet hard place...And next month I'll need to buy the conditioner, which should set me back about £40  , but there's little else I can do, unless I can find something else that does the trick. If not, I can take small consolation out of the fact that it should last me approximately one year, and won't be a purchae I will need to repeat in the near future. (Having said that, my hair might need its own place in my budget and a separate bank account!) Come back Tresemme, I say!
    • My mobile died and from an :money: perspective I'm lucky that mum's got one she doesn't use knocking around for me to have, but it's horribly cumbersome to use, so when I eventually have some money (:rotfl:), it would be lovely to replace it. Not for an iPhone or anything (where's the dreamy smiley when you need it?), but for something that has keys which don't crunch when you press them to write a text. :o
I'm sure there was something else, but I've forgotten, so I'll post it later if I remember/have time. :p

Wow sounds like you've got a lot going on! I can understand why you didn't want to apply for that job right away (but to be honest it would be my dream job!). Hope the badgering goes well for you. It's impossible to get work experience in my field too but I have just given up on it now! Ohh and that woman wanting your nail services sounds like a really good opportunity! You could come and practice on me if you wanted!

Woul happily do so, but the petrol costs would be exorbitant! If only I could convert my car to run on acrylic fumes! ;)

Also, I've just had my gym induction. Running up and down the stairs a hundred times today at work is going to be amusing. Not!
