from my travelling days
Ooh - where'd you go? I found myself getting a little glazed in the eyes when peers would wither on about their 'gap year' experiences, but I find myself quite fancying a few months away nowadays.0 -
If I'm just hallucanating and they don't exist, I wonder if my trainers will be enough to get me through?
I saw somebody in full hiking gear today to brave the elements and they went base over apex in spectacular fashion, it was hillarious,:rotfl: I think no matter what you wear you are still at risk of a broken bone. My one question would be why when we slip does an involuntary yelp force its way out of our mouths, is it to alert all passers by to the fact that we have slipped so that they can have a laugh, I think so!
Good luck with the possible new job by the way!
Total Debt: [STRIKE]£24,359.79[/STRIKE] £16,452
debt reduced by 32%

:rotfl:I know what you mean about extra socks - it's blummin' chilly out there! I put two on to walk the dog, just in case!
I went into the attic an hour or so ago and indeed found aforementioned pair of hiking boots. I was delighted as they are good as new (bar some slight discolouration on the inner left hand side of the right boot), but hey, I can cope with that! They fit well (unlike some of the tight ones I was trying on in the shops the other day), and are waterproof, so that's even better. :j I still popped some protector spray on to stop any water stains, though. Consider that an £85+ saving!
Natually, I still need to be careful, don't I, Emmie, but the extra grip is brilliant. No yelping here, I hope!
Ed: boots are from my year spent in China. I never had a gap year as such - it was an obligatory part of my degree course - but I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in, well, you get the idea. In fact, I need to go travelling again. That's my next aim, unless a career gets in the way. Please call me 'Pickle'

No offence taken, DC, but I was thread-crusing there once and I saw a few people there who really did need to lay off the juice (as in problem drinkers), and I just can't quite bring myself to class myself with them. I also need to stop eating so much chocolate and sweets, but I'm not actually addicted! Please call me 'Pickle'

Sweets and choccies have been my downfall, particularly when im in the throws of working, need some petrol, think, a bar of chocolate to keep me going is just the job, and then another 200 calories of unhealthy food is consumed. This year, thats not going to happen anymore. I want to be debt free, and thanks to MSE Im aware of how the odd money here and there can really make the difference, so the plan is to put the money in my sealed pot instead for Xmas spending this year.
Take care Pickle! My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
May 2013 £124,080.27= £37,903.50 paid off WOW!!!!! Well done! There is a guardian angel out there! :AI'm visualising success, debt freeness, and happy days!:T0 -

I realised that last year and started a 'Giving Up the Sweet/Savoury Stuff Support Thread' last year as I realised I was spending a stupid amount on sweet rubbish and lunches out. I haven't been keeping it up officially much lately, but I have been much in general. However, I could do with doing it in earnest again. Especially for the diet coke! I'll have to think about doing it again, but now, I had better get ready for work. *Yawns* Need to start going to bed earlier! Please call me 'Pickle'

I cannot believe the amount of money that I spend, or should I say spent, on the odd coffee here the odd muffin or choccie bar and just popping into the shop for something for lunch, and because I used my debit card all the time I had absolutely no idea how much I was spending. Now I use cash and I've had £20 in my purse since the 26th december which has not been broken into becasue its much more 'real' than the virtual money in my bank account.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I must admit, I broke my 'being good' streak today by buying a muffin and a coffee*, but I no longer use my DC to do so as it seems much more real that way, as you say.
