As I said before, I would be careful if you run homebrew software from your wii and you want to go online with it. 1 poster on here seemed to disagree with what I was saying, but I have seen many warnings about going online with the wii and automatic updates being forced onto the wii. Also the point they made about NTSC games isn't exactly true, because when new games come out on the wii with updates on them, new software comes up to counter act this. This has recently been the case with games such as Indiana Jones, or the Wii Resort with wii motion plus. The wii motion plus game required new software to be uploaded to the wii, this is possible without using the internet or original game discs etc. All information is freely available on the internet. The impression I got was, the nintendo updates alter the CIOS which are used to allow you to play homebrew, backups, dvds, on your wii. The main reason for updates seems to be to stop people using homebrew etc, but if nintendo let people use the wii to it's full capacity, ie playing dvds, people may stop using homebrew.... Personally I would steer clear of using the internet on your wii if you use homebrew or backups.
Homebrew + 4.1... ok so fair, needed to reinstall but is working fine now0 -
Anyone got any games recommendations for those of us with 500 refunded points?

:jWhooo hoooo, I just managed to get this on the wii and we love it - my OH and I do a lot of browsing and for me it means I can do all my basic stuff for my recipes etc without having to use the pc thanks for this great post.0

many thanks for this tip, i have a wireless sky keyboard, is there anyway of programming it to work on my Wii ?0

Don't think you can get it as part of your 500pts back, but thoroughly recomend 'world of goo', considered certainly the best downloadable game out there for the Wii0

Should I be able to download from bbc iplayer etc to wii to watch later or only play on iplayer straight away?0
-
Hi Mrs T - No, you can only watch 'live' on iPlayer, the Wii has no memory to store a program
I can also recomend World of Goo if you have enough points - so get saving !
Don't forget, you can register most Nintendo brand games on Club Nintendo if you have the official card that came with the game and get 'stars' - not forgetting the Console as well, and bonus stars for signing up. This included the DS and DS games etc.
To do it, go to the Club Nintendo website (sorry, I'm too new to post the link - can someone oblige ?)
Then, convert the stars you get for registering the games into Wii points that you can use to buy Wii downloads.
Hope that makes sense to you all !!0 -
Basically before this update the Internet Channel used Flash 7 and as such the BBC had to convert its content which is in either Flash 9 or 10 (I forget) to this format to make it playable (though the picture was a bit Windows 98). Now the Flash player's been updated to Flash Lite 3.1 which effectively makes it compatable with Flash 9. However, I looked through the Flash Lite FAQs yesterday (I can't be bothered finding them now!) and it said something like the individual websites need to licence their page for the content to work with this format. I guess this is why the only Flash content that I seem to be able to get now that the update has happened is YouTube XL which continues to function, they must have updated their licence or something!
So it probably means we'll have to wait a few more days before the BBC, C4 and others realise they need to do something in order to make it work.
And before you ask, ITV's player uses 'Silverlight' so don't expect that to work on the Wii anytime soon!
Take most of what you've read above with a pinch of salt as I'm interpreting a small paragraph on an FAQ page!
cheers. understand most of this - not all! so guess it's a waitign game until iplayer works with wii. someone pls let us all know when it should be working. i'll keep checking & share when it looks like we have lift off!0 -

I took the jump, found a great website with a newbie tutorial and installed Homebrew on my new Wii which has 4.1e on it and indeed it works great. :jA lot of the websites giving contrary advice need updating because there's even a fix for the LU64+ Wii consoles.0 -

There is indeed its a matter of finding the right site / forum for all the current details.
