  • You need the Wii internet channel to watch streaming video on your Wii too e.g. BBC iPlayer or Orb so it's well worth getting. Just search on Google for instructions.

Just installed this for first time. Can see iplayer menus but when I try and watch anything I just get the spinning circle and nothing else.

I thought it was free anyway, but seems you had to download it using wii points previously.

However, you will still need an internet connection at home to access the internet through your wii.

Also, if anybody uses "homebrew" applications to play "backups" be careful you do not do any automatic updates as it may affect your wii!

Nah. You need to let your wii do any automatic updates anyway. Its safer.

Otherwise, if your 'backup' game is an NTSC game, sometimes these have updates on the disk and this will brick your PAL wii.

  • This is great news - I've joined the forum merely to say thanks... been waiting for the chance to use BBC iPlayer on my telly...
  • Only thing is its a PITA without a keyboard. Takes ages to spell out every char using the wii remote...
  • Excellent news..... saves me trying to scrap around finding my nintendo points cards on games! Will set that up tonight.
