Another weekend - another babysitter to pay. This time its because I have to work tomorrow - as does OH. Did send the kids out to buy popcorn though - having Strictly back felt like a good enough reason to celebrate!
Yesterday was also a washout NSD-wise. But I did buy lots of Christmas cards - and for a good cause. Now that its dark by 7.30pm it doesn't feel quite so wrong to be thinking about Christmassy things. May have overdone it by looking at the Lakeland catalogue. I think middle-age is sneaking up on me. Next it'll be cocoa and slippers...
But its only 19 days since I started this diary, and I've cleared 2 credit cards since then :T - and I'm thinking twice about things I previously would just have opened my purse for. HMV will be sending me little notes soon saying 'We miss you!':D(see Blondie thread :rotfl:)
If you bought stuff from HMV online then they probably will. I stopped buying books from Waterstones and buy them from charity shops now and I'm always getting Emails saying they miss me and trying to tempt me back with extra points on my waterstone card and stuff0 -

Laura - I LOVE my new name!! What a strange post to appear on our Blondie thread!! I wouldn't mind having that job!
I get those emails from Waterstones too - I think they are designed to make me feel guilty about using Amazon. 'We've noticed you haven't been in for a while...sniff sniff'.Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Hello from the land of spending money with a slightly manic grin...
Today, I have brought lunch for some people at a meeting - and (what is wrong with me) decided 'wouldn't it be a nice gesture' to pay for it.
WHY WHY???!!!
I also (in a mad moment) told the rugrats that if they did jobs round the house they could earn money for buying Christmas presents. They generally help a lot anyway - but I felt sorry for them - trying to save pocket money and then wanting to buy presents for people - I remember that was quite hard.
I have these crazy moments - which I must admit do give me a warm glow - but they don't help the saving - which REALLY needs to be taken seriously. Especially as I have decided....
I AM APPLYING TO UNI AFTER CHRISTMAS!! If they'll have me - I will go next September :T:T:T:eek::T:T:TOnward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Yeah but Rude, the rugrats might buy you a bigger present now!
Well done on applying to Uni, will keep fingers crossed x0 -
Mmmm - didn't think of that Swinstie. OK - I can deal with a bigger present...;)Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Hey Laura - I am my own worst enemy (savings wise;)) - I was urged to claim it back, but out of my mouth were the words 'No no think nothing of it' - or words to that effect. (I was meeting with people who have a charity budget - ie not a lot of budget to speak of).
:silenced: (will be a reminder to me - where is the icon to say 'I am a dodo??')Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side
