  • Hi September, I was quite amazed at how much can be saved just by looking at your Sky package. I did this yesterday and if I move my phone/broadband to sky and drop a few of the channels that we don't really use then we can make a saving of £40ish per month.

    Hope everything goes well for you today... keep plodding along

    Well done so far!!!:beer:

  • Mel - It must be a new thing they are offering. I basically got a letter stating what my new interest rates would be, but also telling me that if I didn't want to accept these new interest rates I need to call by Oct 11th and ''opt out'' which basically as far as I can tell, freezes my card so it can no longer be used, but everything else carries on as usual untill I pay off the balance at which point I can close the account.
    Sounds good to me? :T

    Ellieseleven - Im already on a pretty basic package so i doubt theyll be able to do anything for me but you can but ask eh? the worst they can say is no! :) I just want to see what they say (only on 2 mix pack now)! :rotfl:

    JC- Im sure you'll lose some... keep it up! Has to come off eventually. ;)

  • Just did the budget planner spreadsheet from this site for next months incomings and outgoings and....

    Good news... Including;
    the credit that is in my account now,
    the pending bills that I dont know when they'll arrive,
    and all of my bills for next month
    inc a £5 mobile phone top up,
    and £15 haircut
    and all debt repayments etc etc
    I will still be in credit (granted only by £7.94 so its gonna be tight but still) :T Did that make sense????? Im waffling again!!!!

    This is of course assuming that the money that is owed/promised tome by certain people actually makes an appearance. But fingers crossed it will.

    Now... About the rest.

    Hopefully got enough food in to make meals for the next two weeks till payday (im optimistic) and gonna try my best to make it last... meal plans here I come.. The reason for this is that Im gonna try to make (gasp) £2.30 do me for the odds and sods. Odds and sods = bread, milk, cat litter for two weeks. :eek::eek::eek::eek:

    After that I have a grand total of £84 in cash (£70 early bday money and £14 my little present to myself) which I aim to make last me for 6 weeks on any extra phone top ups or social outings or dvd rentals I might fancy. Not bad really as this = £14 a week.

    Yay so theres my grand plan.

    Plan for last night;

    • [STRIKE]ring sky to try for a better deal[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]ring cc3 to opt out[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]do budget planner spreadsheet.[/STRIKE]
    God Im getting good at sticking to these lists! Hehe

    So, progress report.

    Sky - Said Im considering moving to virgin media and was offered a 6 months discounted offer (about a fiver off each month) - which is good considering im only on 2 channel packs and broadband base to begin with... so took that offer and will ring up in 6 months to see if theyre willing to offer me anything else...:rotfl: Well chuffed with that as I didnt expect to get anything.

    CC3 ''Opt Out'' - Rang the number on the form at 530 as it said it was open to 6 and all I got was ''please ring back within office hours'' wwwhhaaattt??? :mad:
    But nevertheless I didnt give up and rang the usual credit card number and asked to be put through to the department that deals with this - got put through - and the lady on the phone was ever so helpfull and opted me out.
    I asked for a confirmation letter but ''theyre not currently doing these'' as this is a new scheme that they are offering after being ''in talks'' with the ''government and other financial bodies'' deciding that morally (spelling?) this is something they should offer people hence there being no confirmation letter as its a fairly new thing.
    Me being my usual sceptical self I took her name, the date, and time of the phonecall down as, hopefully, some kind of evidence that this has been done.

    Budget planner details in yesterdays post. :money:

    Not sure what the plan for the weekend is yet. Will have to think on that one.
