September09's Debt Free Diary

Hello all you lovely people!
I'm September and I joined this forum today (in 2009). Just incase you were wondering about the username. :cheesy:
OK, so first things first I guess. A little background information.
I'm 22 (23 this month) and I'm in debt. In debt by about £12,233.88p + a mortgage and an overdraft which I never seem out of (haven't included this in the total as it varies every bloomin' month!).
This has came about in a variety of ways.
At 18 I was renting a house with my Fiance for 6 months. Money was fine and I was very controlled.
Then, came the mortgage. Having my own house, I was very excited! Got my first credit card, spent on it, EXTRAVAGANTLY. Got a loan to pay it off. Spent on the credit card again, + another brand spanking new credit card!
So then, I thought, the sensible thing to do must be to re-work my loan, to pay off the credit cards, then cut them up and NEVER use them again. So off I potter, to redo my loan. Get it, but don't cut up the blimmin' cards and spend on them again. Not smart. Even less smart, I go to get another card too.
So now, the current situation stands at:-
1 loan
3 credit cards
next directory account
littlewoods account
overdraft (not inc in total)
mortgage (not inc in total)
So there it is. In black and white. How scary!
And here's my diary. The aim of which is too pay off all my debt by living frugally (but not too much so - I don't want to feel deprived then go and have a blowout - my usual tactic) and trying to save money anywhich way I can. First, the catalogues, then the credit cards, then the loan, then the mortgage. And all the way through, try to get down the overdraft, and keep it down!
Im sure my journey will be full of tears, laughter trials and tribulations. But im ready for it. Its about time.

OK. I'm annoyed. Day one in my debt free diary and I'm not a happy bunny.
So, this morning, British Gas come to my house, as arranged, to fix my boiler. Now, I wasn't originally a customer, but I was assured, by many of their customer service representitives, that they would get me up and running and fix WHATEVER was wrong with my boiler, no matter how many things, how big or how small, for £99 and then put me onto Homecare 200 for £20 a month.
So safe in this knowledge I go ahead and take out a contract.
Now, this morning, I am told, that there are 2 faults on my boiler and that only one is covered in my £99. The extra will cost another £150+ and as you can imagine I'm less than impressed. Told engineer to go forth regardless, but I do plan to take this up with BG themselves. I feel the robdogs have got me to take out a plan under false hopes. And I am NOT happy.
And I just felt the need to vent.
So day one, and yet more expense. GREEEEAAAT!
Anyway onwards and upwards as they say. Hopefully an earful will allow BG to reconsider there prices on this occasion. If not, I feel a letter will be in order.
Wish me luck!!Proud to be dealing with my debts one step at a time.Weight Loss Progress - 0 out of 56lbsWBDF's 'Weight Loss Challenge to Christmas 2009' Progress - 0 out of 21lbsPart of the DFW Addicts '''Blankie Club'' - Working my way to VEGAS babyOctober NSD's 0/100 -
Ok, so the BG situation.
The 2 faults, after much ado, are now all included within the £99! Hoorah! Result. Should be all fixed within a couple of weeks (ordering parts yadayada)
Much happier afternoon ahead of me.
Plan for tonight is:-- Do some housework. House is a little cluttered of late!
- Go through cupboards, fridge and freezer to make meal plans to use up what we've got and save money on the old grocery bill.
- Sort through college stuff to get ready for evening course re-commencing next week. (oh did i mention i stretch myself ever-so-thin by working full time and studying at night?)
