Well done on the bike ride Maz...I can't wait for Bea to be able to cycle on her own for a distance so that we can go off together. At the moment I am in that between stage, she can still go in the seat on the back but blimey its hard work for me and she gets no exercise!

Hey Spud - sorry you are feeling down today.

If you do collect Tesco clubcard points - they can also be used at Youth Hostels - we've just got back from Wales. We are a family of five and we never usually go away because prices are so extortionate in the school holidays. ANYWAY I am a total convert to youth hostelling - and I don't even own a rucksack or hiking boots! We had five nights away for £250 (and one of those nights was paid for with clubcard deal vouchers) - and it was fab. Have a look on the youth hostel (England & Wales) website - I was totally won over.

Maybe an idea for next year??

Yep, that's something I would never have considered, but will definitely look into. DH wants to take em on a plane, just for maybe a day trip but there's only me has a passport - a cheap day out plus 3 passports = a blimmin dear day out
    Hiya Spud,

On the laptop front, have you thought about one of the deals with Three/o2/Voda etc whereby when you sign up for mobile broadband you get a free lappy ?

On just a £20.00 a month tarrif you can get a really nice Compaq netbook - it's what I've got - and get a 1GB data allowance a month (usually plenty for a house not doing a lot of downloading etc).

AND with Three you can get a special wireless router (I have a spare I'd be happy to let you have) into which you can plug your USB dongle and use it as a wireless network all over the house.

So you could cancel your broadband at the moment and move to this one so probably somewhat cost-neutral.... but you'd get the free laptop!

I'm not at all technically minded, and havent a clue what mobile broadband is or what we'd need to do

    I is fick
Your kids sound like absolutely, positively the most amazing kids in the world. You've done an amazing job of bringing them up, and that they're thinking the way they are is testament to your superb parenting.

Debt is a pain in the derrier, but with a family like yours.... who gives?!?!

Thanks hun, they are great kids. I guess i just want to give them more than I can :o

Spud I think we would all like to give them more than we can but the truth is that you might not be able to give them materialistic things but you can sure give them everything else (which is more than a lot of parents do)
