I can add to the complaints about Beaumont Legal....

My first property I have bought has a 2nd charge against it and the soicitor (Emma Newby) failed to include full details of a 'buy back' agreement I have with the developer in my contract. I have only just realised this since the purchase in 2008. They were advised fully of the agreement in the CML disclosure of incentives form (I have a copy) but only included the part that states I owe the developer 'X' amount of pounds by 2014.

I have written to complain about this but no reply has been given. Due to the failings of Beaumont Legal, it means that I could lose out on thousands of pounds.

I would never use a cheap/long distance solicitor ever again - especially Beaumont Legal. The contract sent to me was not explained in basic terms of what was included (or excluded in my case!) so therefore would only want to invest in a local solictior who would explain a contract to me face to face.

I am hoping I can claim negligence/breach of contract against the solicitor in question. Trading Standards have been very helpful with my case and I would strongly recommend anyone with issues to speak to them. Beaumont Legal clearly are rubbish!!!

Have bumped this one up to provide a link to the feedback on Beaumont Legal via the Conveyancing Comparison site [http://www.compareandconvey.co.uk/feedback.asp?partnerid=31 ]. Mine was added verbatim so I can vouch for its accuracy on that score. But I cannot understand how the same firm can seemingly provide such wildly different experiences for its customers?

If their wasn't a major failure on my case I would have said that their service was still not satisfactory and value for money.

A common complaint seems to be that emails were taking too long to reply and they could not get hold of their solicitor. I too had this experience but had nothing to compare to at the time as I was a first time buyer.
  • I am not sure how the feedback system works on Compare and Convey, as we still can't leave feedback, as we haven't completed, even though I am trying to get Alan to raise a smile and try and get our house sold and us purchasing (I have done more work today and solved another range of problems that he can't be bothered to do, I even finally got a thank you from the miserable guy...which has amazed me after five months of dealing with him, when you can actually get hold of him, which believe me takes ages!!!!)

You can only leave feedback after completion, so I wonder how many 'feedback' don't get entered as the sale/purchase fails due to Beaumont? and the problems lack of information flow, and if you choose to stop using them does this mean you cannot leave feedback as you haven't completed?????? Beacause if this is the case I think there would be many more negative feedbacks left and on reading some of the comments say 'having to leave positive feedback as the negitive button is not working...poor service.....rude....incompetent......' I am disgusted with the process let alone the service and I am still trying to smile through every day to get our house sold...don't use Beaumont Legal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only 2 posts you have listed are in praise of Beaumont Legal.

Maria thank you for saying this, I must agree with you.

    I can only assume that

    a) you work for them / are a partner

    b) your life revolves around them

You actually do further damage to their reputation (which appears bad enough already) by joining and trying to defend them.
I would be happy with even Lada service, but at least this would run, unlike Beaumont Legal. If you don't get involved after not hearing from them for months, then you don't even get the legals sorted, I would not say I am somebody that wants every second documenting, I only wanted to get our house sold and move. This is something that looks more distant than the moon at the moment, with no end in sight......I am quite jealous you have had your house processed by them and you have come out reasonably sane and financially sound....I would have loved to have been able to defend them.....

I suggest all those unhappy with BL's service file a report with:

w w w legalcomplaints dot org dot uk (sorry they won't let me post a link on here!)

I certainly will be. I'm still having a total nightmare, don't want to post details here as my case could be identified. But please do NOT use them!!!! If I have to I will pay out for a local solicitor just to get these parasites off my back, however they already have my fee money now so won't care less if I stay or go.
  • You get what you pay for with solicitors....use a firm where you can speak to the solicitor dealing with your matter and a firm where you know a qualified solicitor or licensed conveyancer will deal with the matter rather than a computer jockey like you have at these conveyancing factories
  • You would need to be crazy to use any of the conveyancing comparison websites especially compare and convey. Who do you think pays them their fee. The solicitors that advertise there. The site is not really interested in your conveyancing once they have their commission you are on your own.

Oh and that commission by the way goes right on the top of your bill. It doesn’t matter if the law firm pay to advertise there or they pay compare and convey a referral fee (more likely) you pay. If you have instructed through them and are using a solicitor ask him or her to tell you how much they paid compare and convey for your instruction, legally they have to tell you.

As for not being able to post reviews ***yawn**
  • Beaumont, were an absolute nightmare for me from start to finish. I went with them to save money and because the 'proper' solicitor I'd used on my last purchase had been useless. How bad could an e-conveyancer be, I wondered. The answer: worse than your wildest imagination.

Apart from never returning calls, making basic mistakes with forms (corrected by the buyers' solicitors), getting my name wrong repeatedly, failing to pass on the full money from my sale, passing me through the hands of no less than five different people etc etc they were great!

I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Don't say you weren't warned.
  • :mad:I have a very simple question to ask-

WHY OH WHY HAS MARTIN LEWIS RECOMMENDED ABODE ??????

I cant believe it, I feel so duped. We decided to go ahead with Abode on Martin Lewis' recommendation.... I have just found this thread and feel HORRIFIED

I had no way of knowing about Beaumount Legal as you get assigned the firm AFTER you instruct Abode..

I only started having a nosey around the forum as only 2 weeks in I am not impressed all ready.

Is there anything I can do??

I feel very let down by Martin Lewis and am disgusted that HE has recommended Abode??
