Abode and Beaumont Legal

Hello everybody,
For our house purchase, I am considering using Beaumont Legal, which was refered to by Abode Conveyancing, for their competitive quote and many positive reviews and experience from other MSErs.
Well, some concerns to start with:
1. Beaumont Legal (and its previous name, Beaumont Partnership) appears unregistered with the Companies House. Is it something to worry about? (I checked and it is listed on the Law Society.)
2. Another quick search from the internet shows there is no company named Beaumont Legal at their supposed address (WF1 2UF).
Instead, it shows an entry about BURNSHIELD INTERNATIONAL LIMITED
C/O BEAUMONT LEGAL (REF NM), BEAUMONT HOUSE, 1 PARAGON AVENUE, WAKEFIELD, WEST YORKSHIRE, WF1 2UF(more details here)
Anything I should worry about? Or have I just gone unecessarily too far in verifying things? Please advise.
Many thanks and cheers,

Why do you think that Beaumont Legal is a company? If it is merely a trading name of a partnership if would not need to be registered at companies house would it?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Hi, I am using Beaumont Legal at the moment to buy my first house. They are a 'real' company and everything is going well so far. Were just waiting for our mortgage to be finalised and then we can exchange contracts! We found our quote through compareandconvey.co.uk. We dont live near the company, but I am hoping that this won't cause a problem with signing the final contracts etc...
Hope this helps!0 -

Hello,
Thanks for your comment
I by now do not know if Beaumont Legal is operating under which form, company ltd or LLP or partnership or else, and I would want to know what type of business I am going to deal with before asking them to take care part of our biggest financial commitment. Hence, this thread.
As I mentioned earlier, there is no Beaumont Legal at such an address. Instead, there is a company bearing different name, c/o Beaumont Legal there, having "unknown" and "non-trading" status.
Wonder if this Burnshield is a real company using Beaumont Legal to do business. And if so, is it reliable in its current status???

The paperwork I have from Beaumont Legal says "Partners: Roy Cusworth BSc, Daniel Hilton LLB, Nicholas Masheder LLB, Anthony Bastain LLB"
I've only had the initial paperwork from them but it all seems efficient and I have no reason to reconsider my choice. The various reports are that they do the job well, I couldn't find any substantial complaints mentioned online.
The Burnshield company is most likely using them as a registered office address, which is very common.0 -
Just thought I'd chip in to say that I'm using Abode/Beaumont Legal for my first house purchase, and so far they've been great.0

If they are solicitors you can look the individuals and the firm up on the Law Society website and if Licensed Conveyancers on that of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers.RICHARD WEBSTER

I am currently using BL to buy our second house and have so far been dissapointed. Slow, non-personal and takes at least a day to reply to any e-mails. Forget getting any response the same day! I would suggest another company. N.0

Second this opinion, used for straight forward house sale in 2008. Never seemed to answer emails and had to continually chase for answers by making numerous phone calls.I am currently using BL to buy our second house and have so far been dissapointed. Hello,
Just want to share with you the response from Beaumont Legal which I received via email. Cheers.Good Morning,
All solicitors practices are registered with the Law Society and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We are a partnership and therefore cannot be registered at companies house.
I hope the above answers your questions.
Regards
Anthony

I'm with the opinions above, wish I'd never used them (which I did based on previous good recommendations on this board). Amazed that you got a reply from the guy above, he never replies when I want him to do something on my sale :-(0
