We always have egg & chips - my kids are eating it now - the proper way - home chipped spuds. they love it - ultimate comfort food - even better with cheese grated on top!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

you know what else is good? Egg in a cup? Sure its a scottish thing, but you boil eggs, place them in a cup with a huge amount of butter, salt and pepper and mush up. I soo hope eggs are on offer this week!

My mum used to call these chooky eggs and serve the eggs up slightly soft. Plus to fill us up she'd put the butter on bread and chop that up too. Always got it when we were ill or needed cheering up - fits inside a teacup or a mug for more than one egg.

    Lovely.
    x:rolleyes:

  • Actually I call any soft boiled egg with a runny yolk "chooky egg" as thats what my mum used to call it, and it was always a treat when you were poorly to have it all mashed up with butter :D

    Winky
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before

Home made chips from potatoes we've grown. Had some sneaky fish fingers too. Drinking my strong tea now.

:j we have 'dippy' eggs - either poached, bioled or fried, if they're soft and runny then they're for dippin!

i'm intrigued about egg in cup though? do you poach first or boil in the shell then remove the shell for mashing? i'd love to try this one as my boy loves boiled egg and soldiers!

We had special egg cups similar to this one...

and what they call the duck egg end is what we used for "egg in a cup" always a treat if you weren't well.

Funnily enough I just unpacked my Mum's Royal Worcester egg coddlers from the kitchen renovation and think I'll have coddled eggs tomorrow.

Soft boil then peel, place in a cup (like a mug not an egg cup) add butter salt and pepper and mush with a fork. He'll love it!
