Cripes, good job we don't have a local chippy at all, never mind one that does scallops, the kids would be down there constantly until their pocket money ran out! We do have a chippy about 8 miles away that does a mean pea fritter though!

    Pea fritters? You lucky woman!

I agree with the thing about scraps - why oh why do they not have them in Scotland? The people in my local chippy looked at me like I had two heads the one and only time I asked for them!

Rockie4......do it, if you can spare the cash for the deep fat fryer you won't regret it. Home grown spuds cooked as fried chips are AWESOME.

I was always told that Brown sauce for Northerners and Red sauce (ketchup for southerners. I'm from the North East and a brown sauce fan:j
I like both with other stuff but neither with egg n chips OR with bacon butties cos you can't taste the chips or bacon...

Northern but living down South btw and desperately craving a pea pie from our local bakery when I lived in Blackburn...(YES it's mushy peas in a pie!!!)

Just had battered sausage and chips from the chippie for dinner. :)

Fish and chips was always a Thursday night (payday) treat for this southerner.
