hi zippy chick
you say you have a hock ham? if its the hock ham i am thinking of then I normally cook it by boiling it for about 20 mins per pound plus 30 mins over . but - we have different names for cuts of meat here sometimes. I have never tried frying it - let us know how it turns out . oh and am not sure what champ is - is it potato and cabbage? i usually just make little cakes with it then fry both sides. thats delish too!!!
Mash with cabbage is called Colcannon. Same kind of principle.:DA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

well zippychick - nothing to prevent you frying it if thats what you want to do! it will prob be lovely. knew potato and cabbage called something and potato and spring onion called something else! by the way in south wales we called spring onion, gibbons! nothing to do with primates the welsh word for onion sounds a bit like shibbon and us valleys people had our OWN, much improved version lol.0

Well i don't necessarily want to fry it, just not sure how else I would cook it? Sorry, hijacking, this isn't relevant any more!
I do have a shocking hankering for egg and chips though. I don't think I would even dare use oven chips. They gotta be proper chips from the deep fast fryer!
Who can I get to cook for me!?!:rotfl:A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Remember, chip fans, it is NOT SUNDAY, even though it feels like it. So the chippies are open. Best tactic is to hang around outside until you see new chips coming out of the frier, then they'll be piping hot.
Talking of which, living in the South (as I do now), the one thing I REALLY miss about the North is chips and gravy. We used to sneak out of school and school dinners for that every day, a feast for next to nothing, especially if the chips are fresh and really hot.0 -
I quite fancy some egg and chips now :rotfl:
Which would be ok had I not already eaten dinner.0 -
Re - The brown sauce or ketchup debate -well it was just something I read. Richard and Judy had a similar debate years ago, the outcome much the same, both liked in North and South! I buy both as it really depends on what your'e having isnt it? Mind I do love bolognaise sauce and I am not italian hehe When I was daan saaaf peeps called bread buns -rolls, they tend to call them baps oop north all perfect with erf pom fritt.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

OH is now of to the corner shop for a loaf of Warbutons, and then to the chippy next door as I've only home made wholemeal bread, and as everybody knows it has to be soft white bread with lashings of butter! Eggs are at the ready!
OH is a bit bemused as he id Dutch and has never had a chip butty!
I am drooling at the prospect...I can almost taste it now...
Winky xRight now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before0 -
