Egg and Chips

I've LOVED reading this thread and although I prefer my eggs scrambled rather than fried, I am now drooling! My problem is that eggs give me migraines:mad:, blooming annoying, especially as one of my fav meals is scrambled eggs, proper chips and TINNED tomatoes (none of the posh fresh ones for me thankyou very much)! I have to plan ahead as I know that the day after such a treat I will be suffering.... just might have some on Friday for my tea, then go out for a beer or 2  as well so the migraine/hangover combination only ruins one day of the weekend:p. Sometimes it really is worth the sacrifice!!:rotfl:Debts in March 2007:

Mortgage £96,000 (finally on a repayment mortgage)

Ah, just spotted this thread, yesterday my pub lunch was ham, eggs & chips, took me back years when it was the epitome of sophistication, well it was if it came with a tinned pineapple ring and prawn cocktail starterEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

OMG
I made homemade chips on Monday night for the first time in years. Hubby and I had the munchies and didn't have any money so I used a non-stick stock pan, vegetable oil and the last 3 spuds in the fridge. We shared the plate of chips on the coffee table and had two slices of bread and butter each. We sat there munching away like a couple of peasants, but oh god it was good.0 -

We have egg and chips once a week, it's one of our staple "quick meals". Sometimes just the egg & chips on their own, sometimes with gammon too or sausage.
It's quick, easy, cheap and delicious. If you ask my 15yr old DD what her favourite meal is she'll tell you it's egg and chips and she'll eat all sorts of different or "exotic" meals.
It's also the law in our house to have turkey and chips for dinner on Boxing day. I always had it as a child and the tradition has continued now I have my own family. Cold turkey, home-made chips, left over bacon/mushroom/onion stuffing (I'm sure my son only travels home at Christmas for the stuffing) and either tomato sauce or mayonnaise. Yummy.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

Oh i wish i had read this thread earlier. Have a curry in the oven but so drooling for egg and chips, (and i'm from up north). OH has been asking me for egg and chips on their own for years and i have always said no thats not a proper tea. I stand corrected, might have to have them for supper. Always make my own chips though, even though they are cooked in a deep fat fryer. Eggs from my own chickens, home made bread with lots of butter. Oh roll on suppertime.Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

Who would have thought something so simple like an egg and a potato would bring so much pleasure to so many people.
I'm looking forward to saturday. Decided I'm having sausage, bacon, egg and chips. :drool:0
