Bronnie - what does the teaspoon of olive oil do?? Im struggling with motivation at the moment, and now IM curious - do you have it like medicine??....Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0

Well I feel it's as a good as a medicine, but I usually use it to dress my salad or veg. There's lots of info on it's posssible health benefits.

I am not a big fan of low-fat 'diet-industry' foods and as I've got older definitely think a moderate daily intake is a healthy way to go and helps keep the wrinkles at bay and my complexion dewy and supple.....kind of nourishing from the inside out! Maybe I'm deluded, but I like the taste anyway!!0 -
BTW are you all counting calories?
My strategy is to omit the bread/rice /pasta/spuds carbs pretty much. Find this a manageable strategy for me as it definitely cuts the cravings.
To avoid cravings I have very little directly sugary sweet food including fruit. I've reduced carbs (which are really slow release sugars once inside you) like rice/pasta/potatoe/bread but find I need them to keep appetite saitisfied.
I don't see a problem with "full fat" dairy products so long as the calories they bring fit inside your average daily budget.
It's a pattern that has worked for me anyway.0 -
Yes counting calories started out using the caloriecount.about.com site daily but it's too time consuming and I think you learn what you need to know after a week or two of doing it..
It is time consuming at first, but it becomes quicker with practise. Takes me maybe two minutes per meal, a couple of minutes etra to put exercise on. Certainly under ten minutes a day. What I'm realising is, that depite a fairly good grip on ''good and bad food'' and a lot of time spent with nutritionists my mental arithmitic on calorie intake is way out: sometimes a lot under, sometimes a lot over, and this is far more useful tome than a nutritionist has been. I've been overweight for 6 years, so spending some time sorting that out is inevitable.I really advise anyone to try sticking with it for a while, or returning to it if you plateau.

Hi everyone!
LiR so glad your cat came home! Sorry he is injured but cats adapt very well to life on three legs so I'm sure he will be back to his usual self before too long.
I weighed myself this morning, tbh not sure if it is 6,7 or 8 days since my first weigh in.....
Anyway 12st, which is the same as my first weigh in, but less than the scary day two weight which I think must have been an anomoly. So I'm happy, would have been happier still if it had been a couple of pounds lower but to be honest I haven't been that great this week so I can't complain.0 -

Now that I'm close to the end I admit I'm being a bit less stringent. My target is 1500 a day on average. I've probably been at about 1600-1700 which I find I need to be comfortable now that I have little excess fat.
Weigh in last night 10st 7lbs, so thats 2lbs down do far this month. 10st 3lbs is the minimum I will go down to since this was my weight aged 21 when I was skinny and couldn't afford to drink (much) beer, have deserts and eat out at resturants etc.:o0 -

Been using Extra Virgin Olive Oil for along time understanding it was a "good" type of fat/oil, never knew all these benefits though0 -
Oh Jodun, your poor cat, at least she made it home to you, bless. Hope the operation goes well for her.0

Bron
I'm the following the WeightWatchers system of points but I'm not going to meetings.
Jodun - Hurray for your cat coming home, but so sorry to hear that she's had an accident. I hope she makes a speedy recovery from the operation.

12st again today, that 13st day must have been some nasty nightmare! Will now only weigh once a week!
Got a lunch meeting today at work so that won't be too great for the diet but have spanish chicken in the slow cooker for tonight0
