    Afternoon all,

Have been to shops to stock up on essentials as also due large amounts of snow later on.

No veg or eggs in co op at all, no sliced bread but thanks to instore bakery plenty of yummy rustic style stuff :) Also plenty of milk so stocked up on that too. Veg & eggs were located in the butchers across the road who assured me that their man in a van had no probs getting to covent garden & back every morning :)

Postie still in his shorts, so it cant be that cold :rotfl:

    Hi everyone,
No more snow here (so far anyway), and it's only -3 today (it was -18 yesterday morning, apparently ). Bright and sunny, would be a lovely day for a walk if everywhere wasn't covered with 5 inches of sheet ice .

Glad you've managed to get out to get some supplies Lula, and great that your phone/broadband is still working Wol.

Hope everyone is OK and that the promised snow later today isn't too bad.
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)

    BUMP!!

Wol staggers/slides back from bedlam-that-used-to-be-a-village:eek:. No milk anywhere - lots of grumpy people ........Tatco Express had some but shelves were cleared within minutes ...I got the last two pints of skimmed :D.......,managed to get bird seed/feed balls/hay from local feedstuff shop (very long queue for bird seed)...and then a few sprouts/two lettuce from the organic shop....and then some potatoes and bananas from Co-Op.

Now got to menu plan for both me and guineas as not planning going out again til this is all over .

Warm thoughts to everyone this bitterly cold and windy day.

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

Good afternoon everyone. All together now "the more it snows, tiddley-pom..."

Have enough food in fridge, freezer and cupboards to survive a fortnight, if OH doesn't mind having some interesting menu combinations from day 10 onwards.....

Cat quite skittish in the snow, charging round like a lunatic with all four legs crossed because his usual latrine patch is covered in snow. Tarts sorry chickens sulking as usual but I cleared a small patch of earth for them this morning in the garden and put them out there for a ten minute peck around while I sorted out their food and straw. They were chuffed as hell, dustbathing away like it was mid summer. Then it was back to the chicken run for hot fruit crumble and custard leftovers as a lunchtime treat.

Surely this cold spell should end soon.....?

Shucks just got home to find boiler not working, and house is very cold. Have put on elec fire so hoping for a small amount of heat to come out alongside all the dust its sending in to the room. Great. Father coming to look at boiler soon. If not I'm decamping back to the folks. I don't do being cold.....

Poor old Tixy, that's just the Law of Sod isn't it, for your boiler to play silly b's at a time like this.
