    Hi all,
Same here Nargle, snow had just started to thaw and we're above freezing for the first time in a week, now it's started to snow again. Will probably freeze again tonight, booger indeed!!!

Tixy, glad you survived the freezing night, is your boiler fixed yet?

Numpty, 4.35 on a Sunday is not morning .

Hope everyone else is well today

    Afternoon All

..........I have heating and hot water! Dad has managed a temporary fix to the valve (well we expect its temporary) and my house is in the slow process of warming itself up. In all honesty I can't believe how cold the house got, the heating was down only about 36hours but it was so cold. Especially considering I had the elec fire and oil radiator going all night.

I admit I am certainly nesh (sp?) but I don't know how people manage, I've seen people posting their SoAs and saying they can't afford heating but thats just not right.

    Keep warm everyone.

    Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

A new page one of these. Welcome newbies, please post a new thread if you need help and advice and almost every reply will be helpful, and ignore any trolls that are not.

Enjoy the warmth, Tixy, you don't appreciate it until you don't have it. Your expression "nesh" reminds me of an old English teacher I had at grammar school. He used to say you should never use the word "nice" to describe something because it is a weak adjective and does not describe things accurately enough. He said it derives from the Old English word nesh (not sure how it is spelt), meaning "fine" or "delicate". Ever since then I give myself a figurative slap on the wrist if I catch myself saying it.
Have a good afternoon and stay warm everyone!

    Hi everyone,
Tixy - what a great dad.. Great news your boiler is working again :j

Nargle - we had an English teacher like that as well, we were NOT ALLOWED (always in capitals) to use the word "nice" for pretty much the same reasons as your teacher gave (might even be the same one?).
Nesh now means (at least it the north west) someone who is weak and feeble. Development of a language is strange sometimes, but very interesting..

Oh well, enough philosophising (if that's a word) for one night. Snowing here again - great!

    Hope everyone is well.
