Can't you just renew your passport?0

Why has he taken all the paperwork?!
If you need assistance over food budgeting head over to the Oldstyle board. Loads of helpful people over there who can make food stretch.
Sorry to hear he's left you in a pickle. I don't care what the circumstances of his departure were but to clear out all the money without considering how you're supposed to feed and clothe your children DOES make him a !!!!!! of the highest order.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I dont drive and no other photo ID (what other types are there?), and getting a new passport is going to be hairy with no birth cert
Im not sure about how you would do it in Ireland but getting a copy of your birth cert over here is really easy so I would have thought it would be a similar process.0 -
Do you need your birth cert for that? Sorry only ever had one passport and we usually get the boat back so never needed it replacing.
I had to have my birth cert, and various other documents to get my original passport as I was born abroad, but renewing it was just a form and a new photo, and a fee - which obviously doesn't help if you have no money but perhaps family could help here and get you all back home.0 -

I think the out of date passport would suffice for photo ID in conjunction with other proof if you explained the circumstances - do you have no old pay slips, child benefit letters? tenancy documents? mobile contract? nhs card? I didn't need a birth certificate to renew my passport. If you take what you've got and sit and scream in the bank about the account being locked I think you might well persuade them to open an individual account which you could at least get child benefit etc redirected to0 -
Hi All,
My partner has just up and left me with 3 young children (6,5,1) and cleared out the joint account. He has left me with no money, and all the bills are due to come out in the next week or so, including a mortgage and a secured loan. I have no idea what to do from here. The washing machine is bust too (just to top it off!) and the kids need uniform and shoes for school (which we had planned on buying this weekend!)
I know its the bank holiday weekend, so I know I cant get any official advice before Tuesday, but can someone please give me any guidance as to what I need to be doing. I have no family in this country (I'm Irish), and my passport is out of date so hopping back home is not an option for the near future
I should add that the online banking has been suspended at his request and Halifax wont talk to me because I failed the security question (I got the branch wrong, I named the local branch instead of the one we opened the account in, in London grrrR), so I have no bank account now, and no way of getting in to see what direct debits are due out and he has taken the paperwork file with him (no idea why!)
I'm at rock bottom at the moment so any practical advice will help.
Could you try women's aid the domestic abuse people - they have experience of women having to leave with no paperwork/possessions.
Phone any utility suppliers/banks whose accounts you are on and ask for replacement statements asap so they come through the post as quickly as possible.0 -
Do you get tax credits or child benefit paid into the account he's cleared?
He will have to pay it back to you surely since its not for him it's for the children.
Have you tried the benefits board? and if he's working he'll have to pay you child support.
I hope you're going to be OK until you can get proper advice.

As you have 3 small children Social Services would help you in an emergency. You would need to call your local council and be put through to the emergency social worker. They are able to in certain circumstances to give you a small amount of money if dire.

Can we not turn this into a man hating thread? We have no idea why he left in such circumstances.
Such comments are less than helpful.
