Pah, 2 wheelie bins is nothing, I have 3! Domestic, re-cycling and garden, luckily when I got my side garden done, I got 3 paving slabs put down so they all sit nicely. My friend has got her 3 at the front of the house, but has put up a low partition woode panel in front so it hides them and looks fab too!

Not sure about a proposal, would be nice but I'll be highly disappointed if I do get a tv! Actually I won't, I'll love it, just not as much as a sparkly ring! Don't even want the wedding, just a ring will do!
  • Stop! Poppytime! (just hijacking Fuzz's joke there because it made me choke on my Ribena).
Anyway, hello Poppy! I'm 31 and live on my own in Brixton, haven't got a cat but want one desperately (flippin' tenancy restrictions). I was a PA in a media agency but was made redundant and have been out of work for 7 weeks so far. If you've been lurking you'll know I've been up and down recently but thanks to my lovely sisters on this thread it's been bearable (just). I broke up with a total psycho at the beginning of this year, was stalked for a while and since then have been sworn off men (this also has something to do with the size of my a*se). Anyway, welcome!

Sigh - all this wedding/baby talk today. I'd be happy if I got a bloke to glance at me twice right now let alone PROPOSE. I am now as old as my mum was when she got married and had me (she was 5 months preggers with me when she married my dad, the strumpet). Anyway, given that I am desolately single that's just pathetic.

Spent the morning pootling round Brixton. My mum gave me some M&S vouchers with which I've bought 2 much needed new bras (prompted by watching How To Look Good Naked the other night - was shamed re my undercrackers). Also bought some Touche-Eclat-But-Not cheapy stuff from Superdrug to try and cover up the dark circles that have taken up residence under my eyes. Not getting much sleep these days...

Off out for a drink tonight with a mate in Brixton. First time I've been out in weeks - can't wait!

Hello ladies and welcome Stop! Poppytime :D

I have fallen off the wagon. I need help. I need a big fat kick up the ar*e.

I spent A LOT of money this week, all on the credit card that I was so happy that I cleared.

Anyway that's why I've been silent I was too ashamed. I also rediscovered ebay and bought ELEVEN items of clothing on my lunch break yesterday.

People I am at my wits end. I really hate myself right now.

    x
    End of 2010 I was £8,007.66 in debt :(
    Today's total: £7,297.06 :o

Babe, don't beat yourself up! Yes, it was silly because you know how hard it is to clear the debt once it's on there but it's done now isn't it? Either take all the stuff back that you bought if you can (not ebay, obv) or maybe try and look how you can make savings over the next few weeks to make up for it. I had to do that last week, I spent £50 on a new outfit (because of that flippin family portrait photo) so I didn't do any food shopping and made do with cobbled together meals out of my cupboards. Not an amazing diff but definitely a help.
Anyway, don't disappear just because of that you wally. As if we're judgy wudgy round here, plus it's obvious you're being more harsh on yourself than any of us would be! Except maybe 'Tough Love Laura' ;)

Quick straw poll girls: Does anyone think I should start the process of applying for benefits? I am utterly in the dark about them and someone told me it'll be 6 weeks before I even see any money, by which time I hope I'll have a job but if I don't I'll obviously be grateful I applied now. Does anyone even know what I'd be entitled to roughly?

Ruby sweetness - I was deciding whether or not to throw up.:rotfl:

Here a tip everyone - when you are fed up of sitting around feeling gross and think you'll go to the gym in a kind of 'kill or cure' moment - DON'T DO IT!!!!_pale__pale__pale_

Little insight iinto yesterday in Rupeworld (or should that be Rudeworld??!!:D)

Oops sorry Ruby, didn't read to the end of the thread - yes dude, apply for benefits now. Its a pretty depressing experience BUT get it over and done with. Hopefully by the time it all comes through you will be working anyway - but its still worth doing.

Ebbs: Thought you'd gone quet on us! Don't beat yourself up about it. Do as Ruby suggested either take back what you can or economise elsewhere. It's no big deal, you are human and allowed to lapse.

Ruby: Go and sign on a.s.a.p. Apparently, as soon as you are made redundant you should make contact with them as your claim starts from that date. Wether you get anything or not is down to your personal circumstances etc. It does seem to vary greatly. You have to make initial contact on the phone, through JobCentre. It's worth doing it quickly because it takes a couple of weeks to get sorted out and processed, then of course your in the system before you run out of money!

Just had lunch and am off to do BIL's cleaning shortly. My niece(surrogate daughter) is coming home for a few days today, am so excited!

  • Thanks Rupe & RM! Feeling a bit panicky as should have done this a month ago but hey, I'm sure I'm not the only person who's come to it late! I'll go on their website now. Thanks! x

  • Aw, Ebbs, don't be to ohard on yourself. Like Ruby says, either take bake stuff if you can, or just do something money-saving to make up for it! What did you buy??

Ruby, I would def get your claim in as soons as you can. If you're not getting paid then you may as well be getting benefits, as little as it might be. Also, it really can take frickin ages for them to sort it out. My nrother went like 2 months with nothing when he first moved down to London. Partially 'cos he moved into the house of a friend (well, friend's parent), and they wouldn't believe that the friend wasn't his partner. They couldn't seem to understand that you can share a residence with someone without being in a relationship with them. He also lost a whole week of his claim, 'cos on one day he had to cancel an appointment to visit the job centre 'cos he was really poorly, and they told him if he was too ill to go to the appointment then he was too ill to be seeking work, and he had to start all over again. Just for having the flu!

Rupe, sorry to see you're still feeling poorly - get well soon!

Gotta go and do some work now, just been handed a massive stack of invoices to be copied and scanned. Yippee.
much work to be done - new sig coming soon...

  • Well, that was disconcertingly easy. 20 minutes on the phone and I've submitted my claim with an appointment at 10.30am tomorrow! I know the cashola won't come through for a while but I already feel better for looking into it. Apparently I'm definitely entitled to JSA but I'm supposed to speak to the advisor about housing benefit and council tax benefit, too. The only slight problem I had was that the guy on the phone had the strongest Liverpool accent I've ever heard so as as result I had to ask him to repeat practically everything!
Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Thanks ladies x
