£6.21 for me today. £5 of that was spent in the pound shop on :-
freezer bags
tin foil
3 x cadburys caramels (for pack lunches honest)
10 x fruit gum things (again for pack lunches)
4 x ribena fizzy juice (again for pack lunches)
Thest rest was 72p in Asda for Arla milk and 49p in Aldi for maris piper potatoes.
Yesterday was a NSD so hopefully I wont be able to buy anything else other than milk later in the week.
After feeling down about the challenge, im starting now to feel a bit better. Yesterday I made a roast ham, and there is loads left to freeze, made some yorkshire puddings, they werent great but they got eat, so I have 2 left to freeze, and I also made bread and gingerbread.
Hopefully Im on a roll lol
Off now to read the rest of the thread and catch up.
Jackie
PS. I personally think Asda have loads of great bargins at the moment. They have quite a bit of cleaning products on for £1, bin bags also on offer and for those of you who dont use stardrops, they have flash cleaning fluid for £1 too.
Theyve got tins of spaghetti, raviolo etc 2 for £1 which i bought last week for stand by.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned0 -
Did a bit of shopping this morning - milk, meat for sandwiches and some cereal for DS2s birthday week treat - came to £12.53.
Wish I'd realised the FreshNLo was only 65p at Mr T - the SEL still said £1.10, so as I wanted 10 bottles, I bought a mix of that and the 1% purple lid (£1), thinking I was saving money that way, when it would have been cheaper to stick with just semi - oh well. Does anyone know when the offer ends? Will have to go and stock up once the fridge has some space again if it still has some time to run.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

i purchased a food processor in asda last week and have been using that a bit...it does a good job but cleaning it is a bit of a pain ...i thought i might do some cakes in it later

Had planned to buy an organic chicken yesterday but then realised that I had chicken breasts in freezer, so we are having those instead. Will just serve them with a mushroom sauce and lots of veg. Quick and easy and I don't have to make stuffing, roast potatoes etc. So an easy meal for me today.
Also will free up some room in the freezer as I need to find some room for leeks which are coming from my brother's allotment. Hope to eat out of freezer this week. Have lots in there so will be quite easy to make meal plan.
Off work next weekend, brother is picking brambles for me and I am planning to have a massive jelly making session. Will have to look out and scrub all the glass jars I have kept over the year.
Thought I might put a jar of bramble jelly in Christmas hampers.
When you freeze the leeks do you prepare them and par boil them first? I have just bought a load from Asda where they're on offer for £1 at present and going to use half tomorrow but need to freeze rest.
Thanks x0 -

Hi - we cut the leeks up [don't par boil] bag them and freeze them and then when we want to use them we don't defrost them - just add them to whatever we are cooking HTH

Hi all - been a bit quiet again - just updated my signature.
The in-laws are over for dinner all week as thy're moving house so bought a few bits that I can stretch - pasta and meatballs with garlic bread tonight. I only have £13.25 left for the next 2 weeks, but the in-laws have given me £20 out of the blue for food this week (they knew I am trying to stick to a budget - I think they were a bit worried about how small their portions would be!!)
I'm gonna make a trifle for pudding tommorrow as that's only 78p for 6 portions!! Will also try and get some twinks in the oven tonight at the same time as the garlic bread! Must go need to clean the bathroom and do the ironing in 30mins - that's never gonna happen!!FebGC
