Another small spend from me of £3.73 (I think, sodding corner shop doesn't give receipts and I have a memory like a goldfish) on milk, bread and eggs. I was off work ill today *sniffle* so didn't get to do my shop for the next weeks meal plan  Hopefully I will get a good night's sleep tonight and go after work tomorrow.

I get paid on the 23rd and still have £100 left (Miracle!) although there are a couple of debit card things to come off which are going under the GC heading. I think I should be easily able to have £50 left from budget this month. Famous last words.....
  • Two weeks on now. I have only spent 8.00 of my 50.00 budget (half of what I would normally spend) so very pleased with myself for that. However I have realised that I do have a hoarding problem. I have found it very hard to change my daily shopping habit, convinced myself that I needed to do this in order to buy offers and whoopsies.

Tp keep myself busy and avoid going shopping I have been trying to declutter a bit and OMG what a lot of clutter I do have. Its not that I have a load of rubbish it is all stuff I intend to use. Especially my cardmaking and craft things. Its made me realise I have a real storage problem. Tiny Bungalow. So i am now on a mission to find more storage ideas make use of space etc.

Anyway so glad I joined this challenge

Best wishes and congratulations to all on here

    Hello everyone

TheBees haven't been participating on line this month but are keeping track of our spends all the same. Not doing too badly on the grocery front.

I overspent during the summer holidays on allsorts, so have been desperately trying to halve the credit card bill this month. (When I say we want to halve the visa bill I mean we usually spend nearly £1000 per month which gets paid off each month so we never pay any interest. We also get loads of points which we put towards Christmas spends. However this month I want to cut the visa bill spends to £500 or less by NOT buying anything apart form food and petrol. Any money left over can go into savings.

Good luck everyone. We'll be back in October.

Off to bed early as have done something to my back - just sitting at my desk at work -and it's really painful!

Well done everyone and welcome to all the newbies!

  • Notjustlaura - hello and welcome, hope you get the inspiration that you need.

DH broke a finger at work today so is now off work for between 2 and 6 weeks depending on how it heals, so that will blow the budget as I don't cater for men in the house during the day!! It has also put our Xmas in serious jepardy as he was beavering away at overtime but has now lost that for the rest of this month and for some time longer, again depending on how he gets better, so he is very naffed off at the mo and in alot of pain. So i'm concentrating on being a loving, caring wife.

  • NSD planned, then had to take a walk to the shops to get some photo copies done, 4 of which should have been 40p, but when I got there Lloyds was closed because the dispenser had gone off sick .Rather miffed as I thought I would have to walk to the print shop where it would cost me even more money.
I had to pop into the bank to pay some cash in for my DD, and was moaning at the cashier about the chemists being shut, and bless her she said give me your bits and I'll do them for you, save your legs .Result, one happy old woman with her copies done for nothing, and I didn't have to walk a further ten minutes with my wonky hip. Thank you HSBC you have smashing staff, so I still got my NSD by accident really, and I walked pass Iceland and Mr T's without even 'having a look' So tomorrow I have £12.14 to last me for 7 days until my next 'payday'But as far as I know I have nothing to buy as yet this week.
We are all doing splendidly aren't we, jackie-w well done you'll get there girl
  • Hi all,

Just a quick update as not been on over the weekend

Helen Jelly - Hope your DH's finger mends asap and that he does not cause you too much hassle in the meantime :)

Well done to everyone, you all seem to be doing very well.

I am now slightly over target as we ate out this weekend, but I do not need anything this week and will be going up to my parents next weekend, so it should even out.

Spent £9.41 in Mr M Saturday, plus £7.90 on fish and chip tea Sunday, as well as £2.70 on figs (15p each @ Lidl - bargain) to make fig jam with
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment
  • Thanks for the warm welcome, helen jelly, really sorry to hear about your DH and hope he heals quickly.

Today is usually shopping day but I've an upset tum so am going to wait till lunchtime and see if it's safe to go out! If the ... erm ... *unpleasantness* continues I might get a No Spend Day. If not then we need cat food, milk, strong wholemeal flour, petrol and to write a (large) cheque for the garage repairs my car needed to pass its MOT.

Yesterday was really good as I only bought the loo roll although I had to go to ASDA rather than Lidl - the tum thing was starting (hence the loo roll!) and I didn't want to go anywhere that didn't have a toilet :(

Oh - just remembered - I *do* need to buy flea treatments for the cats today to apply tonight. One of them - William - has funny skin and missing a treatment/not using the usual (expensive) Brand would be A Bad Thing.

    Happy Money Saving :)

    Just had 2 NSDs in a row:j

OH's car went in for it's MOT yesterday. For the past few years he has insisted on using the main dealer and the bill has always been in the £600-£700 area, once it was £806:eek: So this year he took my advise and took it to the garage next door to my work and the MOT and full service was £120:T

Well it could be that he has had so much work done that ther was nothing to go wrong, but I am inclined to think the main dealer was taking the p*ss.

It has taken a while but I think he has finallly got the message about this money saving lark.

Shopping trip tonight but I don't think I really have that much to get.

Helenjelly poor DH hopefully his finger will heal quickly

completely lost the plot, my 2 DD's have swine flu and it has cost me fortune in paracetamol, ibuprofen, throat sweets ( strepsil £3.50 a packet ) and they have requested magazines ( essential to their recovery apparently ;))

they dont want to eat any of the planned meals and so have had to go and buy tins of soup instead. still as long as they get better soon
