  • Check your cupboards everyone - had done a fridge & freezer list and food cupboard but forgot about cereals.

Been eaking out oats for breakfast and thought I would have to go and buy more tomorrow - anyway I thought I would look in the back of the cupboard and sitting there are 2 boxes of oats - yeehaa!!!

So chuffed I dont need to go and buy any now!!!

Will use up black bananas and all bran and make banana bran muffins tomorrow and will maybe do some flapjack now (I can never get flapjack just right though so need to check my recipes)

Was thinking of trying to pick brambles this week if I can find somewhere.....

I never use cream in a quiche just eggs and a splash of milk, been making them this way for nearly 30 years.
One thing I do do though is put the grated cheese in first so it covers the base.

It turned out fine, I was a bit worried when it was cooking and still seemed very liquidy when I took it out the oven.

I had a big piece for dinner tonight with some potato salad. Mmm!

My estimated spend of £13 today ended up at £14.22 of which £1 was some white chocolate hot chocolate. DD was a bit poorly with a sore throat this morning & she really fancied some, so I treated her. Glad to say she perked up pretty quickly after that & was able to go to school!

Cooked the beef stifado in the SC today & there were lovely smells wafting through the flat! I also made up some more quiche for my lunches.

With 2 weeks to go there is still £40 in the budget & the fridge, both freezers & pantry (floor to ceiling built in cupboard in the kitchen – can’t walk into it but I am only in a flat!) are absolutely stuffed. So I should be OK.

NSD on groceries for me :j

    Breakfast: Weetabix with milk
Lunch: Beef stew with dumplings (OH paid in our staff canteen :D)
    Dinner: Leftover cottage pie, cabbage

Also had some nice Duchy Organics Chocolate Tarts which were free :D

Have to say that checking in here everyday is really helping me control my spending

PurpleSkies: poor you. I broke my toe once and it was agony.icon9.gif

Thanks! Well yes it's still a bit difficult to walk so I'm having a lazy week and putting my feet (well, foot) up! It's turning all sorts of lovely shades of black and blue.

Well I've spent another £2odd on two packs of short grain brown rice from H&B with a view to making my own healthy rice pudding. Our canteen at work makes the most heavenly rice pudding, but I figure I can do it cheaper in my slow cooker.

Took DS to Asda tonight to get him a jumper, spent £2.48 from GC budget. 2 x arla milk @74p (last on the shelf) and a pack of mini muller corners for my pack up.

Doing fairly well though I also have to add on £2.25 at lunch time as I had to go to the sandwich shop - I'd left my pack up in the kitchen:mad:
When I came home DS had eaten it including my last bag of mini cheddars:eek: (I love them but only buy them on offer and I haven't found a decent one lately)

Hi everyone! Managed another NSD today - that's 2 in a row! We made the pork from yesterday's roast stretch for a cold meat and salad with jacket potatoes supper that was delicious! I am still pulling rocket from my veg boxes but it is going to seed now and I have 'lost' one of my pots of runner beans which was wrecked in last Friday's high winds. Still we have had loads of beans (all eaten up!) and I will certainly do this again next year.

Managing to keep ahead of myself with hm freezer meals so I don't have to cook every evening when I get in from work. It's chicken pies tomorrow and quiche and salad again on Wednesday.

Thanks for the cheese pie link rosiben - that brought back memories of primary school - one of my favourites then too!

Lidl opened in our nearest town nearly 2 weeks ago and I still haven't got round to going and having a looksee. Maybe this weekend...!

Can I be added to this challenge please. Money is tight at the mo so I hope not to spend more than about £50 but already running freezer down so might hit budget.
