Hello, we're in, even if I am moving tomorrow. Need to get grocery spends under control, I do have an almost empty freezer which won't help but I need to do this after realising I was spending £150+ a week over the summer. We have 1 week away booked (weekends are just at caravan so comes out of budget) so I will set a budget of £250. Luckily children here get free school meals up to end of promary as a trial so no lunches to pay for when they are back to school. Budget is for 2 adults, 2 kids, dog, lizard and occasional guests.

    Good luck everyone !
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200

can I go in at £80 for this month. That is my monthly budget, but I went over by about £15 last month, so want to get back on track!

Have already done shop yesterday for the next two weeks, came in at £40. A couple of things I couldn't get which will come to about £5. This is meal planned, and am hoping it will stretch into the third week too, so should come in at budget this month hopefully!

Also doing 10 NSDs this month.
  • Hiya guys,

Having the flu did me a favour with the budget. I had 22 NSD's probably never see the like again:D:beer:
My total spends for august is £40.77, again probably never to be matched ;)

So Mrs Mc, I am declaring £40.77 for August so can I say only £80.00 for sept instead of the usual £90

I did some bulk cooking yesterday, 3 caulli/broccoli cheese, 4 mince and baked beans hotpot, 4 mince and veg, 4 pork and veg casseroles and beleive it or not, the freezer is bursting which is amazing when you think I've done very little shopping.

Although there's 3 of use being fed here, it's small meals now adays so things do go farther, but then again we need more cleaning stuff so we'll see how things go.

I'll go back and read the posts once I've finished feeding the breakfast's

    Good luck guys:D

I have been lurking on GC for a while, used to do it 'proper' before. TBH with out month running 15th-14th it is hard to join in monthly GC (and I did try weekly etc in the past but that did not make sense in my poor brain either). So just to say, I am still with you all in spirit, am trying to read the posts etc, but won't be posting totals etc. For anyone who is interested we still manage to stick to our budget most month (kind of have to), and I still frequent the recipe lists on here too. Good luck to all of you and I will be lurking where you least expect it lol ;).
    xx

Have had a fairly productive weekend food wise.

Saturday made a small batch of peach chutney with fruit from Lidl and a banana loaf (using up rest of bananas from freezer)

Sunday made a double batch of lasagne, half gone into freezer, rest for Monday's tea.

Bread made in BM (it has been gathering dust recently  and when I cleaned out the baking cupboard realised I had been hoarding an excess of bread flour!!)

Soaked some lentils & dried cannelini beans for soup.
Raked about freezer for veggies for the soup, found leeks, carrots and some red peppers - left them out to defrost.

Started my weekly batch of yoghurt (draining today while at work)

This morning - put ingredients for soup into slow cooker and it will cook away while I am at work.

Meals planned for at least the next 10 days without buying any ingredients.

Hope everyone has a good day. It's dark, dreich and wet here!! might as well be at work :rotfl:

I am new to this but would love to take part.

I am going to go for £150.00 for Sept. That includes 2 cats and 3 dogs and a husband.

I have a store cupboard that is well stocked and my freezer is on the way out so really I need to eat from that.
I am saving up for a new fridge freezer so it makes sense for me to cut down on the shopping in case it does stop working sooner then I think (and I am broke lol)

(don't know if this is the place but Iceland is selling Quorn mince for £1.00 per bag and actually it makes a pretty good meal)
