spent £131.04 so far, bought 1 weeks food plus some extras - some 28 day aged rump steak for dp as a treat and some braising steak to make pies and casserole for him and ds for the freezer. There is also enough fish for fish pie for 5 tonight plus extras for fish cakes and omelette later in the month plus probably enough for a smoked haddock stovie on top. £41 of the £131 was on things from lakeland like hg service engineer as the dishwasher is threatening to break down and some decent tins for flans/pies etc as dp keeps ruining mine.Sealed pot member 735

Hello
can I join in again please, i have fell by the wayside
Can I be put down for £200 please
Whilst I was on, I was wondering if I could ask for a little bit of advice. I was given a juicer and have been buying alot of fruit and veg from Aldi and Lidl, but, im finding their fruit doesnt seem to last very long. I bought rasperries the other day, and had them for 2 days and they started to go all furry, this also happened with some strawberries I bought.
Can I make the juices all in the one go and freeze them?
Im trying to limit myself to the number of times I go to the shops so would rather buy my fruit and veg for the week in one day, but obviously this isnt working because the fruit keeps going off.

Morning all
Just declared for August, so here I am yet again
Can I set a target of £280 please Mrs M
As a recap, that a 28 day month for two adults, three children, chemical-free food, and not including toiletries or nappies.
Off to do a stock-check and meal-plan now - barely touched the freezer lately, so that should be ok, but the fridge and pantry are looking a bit bare (might have to wander up to the Co-op later for the Sunday reductions - they're always the best, and with the bank holiday tomorrow, there should be even more)

hi...the 20p fruit sounds nice....id like a cup of that myself....20p seems a great price and so much easier than doing it yourself...

i got some reggae sauce in asda the other day for £1 and i have marinaded chicken kebabs for lunch in said sauce...if its nice i will go and get another bottle as that seems cheap to me

... Can I make the juices all in the one go and freeze them?...
hi jackie, I've never frozen fruit juice but we freeze fruit, the only problem being that it doesnt stay firm, so I don't see that there would be a problem with juice; if you want to be sure you could ask on the Freezing - Tips and Quick Questions thread?... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hello to everyone, welcome to the 'newbies', hope all is well with the 'oldies' and thanks to the thread organisers for keeping us all in check with the lists and recipes - VERY handy.
As per signature, I have started on my September spending with a trip to Ald! & Sa!nsbury. Spent a total of £12.81 including a bulk pack of sugar from C0stc0. I now have £198.69 to last until the end of the year. This should only be needed for milk, bread/flour, fresh fruit & veg and a turkey for Christmas dinner as everything else is pretty well stocked up.
Blackberry picking has been in full swing here and apple picking has just started, so the past couple of weekends have been spent jam, jelly and crumble making. The pantry now has about 30 assorted jars of preserves - almost enough to keep us going until next year, but more lemon curd and marmalade will be needed plus there will be more blackberries to pick this week. How much is 'hedgerow jam' in the stores? It's got to be much cheaper making it when all the fruit is foraged for free.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I need to join this.
Family of 4, me, DH, DS1 (11) and DS2 (3). I'll aim for £250 which will be for four weeks starting today. I'll include all essential toiletries like toothpaste and shampoo, and cleaning products. I already meal plan and batch cook most of the time.
I've sent DH to supermarket with a list (he's already called to say there were no big chickens, so should he get two little ones ) I'm hoping he sees how much stuff costs and stops insisting on expensive snacks!
He came home having spent £58.60 - the chicken was too small (i'll probably only get two meals not three) and the burgers weren't 100% beef, but not too bad for a first attempt!0 -
