    Hi everyone!

No spends for me, but wanted to share our yummy dinner yesterday - pork belly with stuffing (99p), leftover tatties (mashed) and peas. Total cost of this must have been less than £2. Dessert was pudding in a pot from Morrisons which were out of date that day so 15p each.

Dinner for three for less than £2.50! (Flatmate didn't get pudding!!)

Today we're having roast chicken from M&S (bought with gift voucher so technically free ;)) with mashed tatties and some kind of veg as well as some gravy.

Tomorrow I will have chicken salad wraps for lunch and this for dinner. I'm going to make some chicken soup too. It's all very MSE here at Fresian Towers!

Didn't feel like a Bank Holiday for me - partly because I'm in Scotland and most of the shops were open. I was working today (For double time, yay for English companies!!) too. Hope everyone is having a lovely day off if you are!

    Dinner for me was:-

    8 chicken legs / thighs
    3 potatoes
    3 carrots
    1 onion

All in the slow cooker and thickened with some couscous.

The chicken fell off the bones and there should be enough for at least 4 meals - when it has cooled I will portion up - one for tomorrow and the rest for the freezer.

    Hi,
Haven't done this before but would like to try. Would like to set a budget of 350 pounds (can't find pound sign on computer), this is for me, husband, friend, 2 kids, a dog and a puppy. It includes milk from milkman (haven't had first bill yet!).

Shopping tomorrow for the month and then just have to cook!!! Can't wait for the kids to start back at school, but 9.50 a week for school dinners is HUGE!! Big change from my 2.50 a week!

    Best of luck to everyone!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Update on my slow cooker chicken stew - it did 6 portions plus my tea tonight - sooooo excited. The main cost was the chicken and that was part of the three packs for £10 from waitrose - so by my calculation each meal has cost me around 57p plus the fuel to cook.:j

    Evening everyone :)

Got an Asda delivery today - £91, but it has fully stocked all the non-perishable stuff including the kids packed lunches (into next month as there were some deals too good to miss), and covered about 2 weeks of frozen food.

I have a small list building for the Co-op and Sainsburys later in the week, for some deals they have that couldn't be beaten, and we'll need some milk by then, but otherwise that's us pretty much covered for a while.

If all goes to plan I'm aiming for 5 NSDs this week - here's hoping :D

    Hello everybody,
I am a long-time lurker of this website and in the last month have developed an addiction with the OS thread. I'm in, I'm going to do it, I'm ready for change!!!

Anyway. I would like to be in for £300 this month but this is my first challenge so it's a guesstimate more than a proper budget.

    *fingers crossed* ;)

    Welcome aboard Botany :)

A guesstimate is a great way to start, then take it from there next month when you see how you do

Please put me down for £290 for September.

Went over budget in August mainly due to the school holidays.

Have now been doing the grocery challenge exactly a year and I am pleased to say we now spend exactly half the amount on our weekly shop than this time last year without any noticable drop in lifestyle - mainly due to not buying things we dont need, buying own/basic brands where we like them and doing weekly menus
